Restaurant bewertenThe Old Ship is easily one of my favourite pubs in London. It is usually my reward at the end of a wonderfully picturesque walk with friends, following the Thames as it snakes its way from Chiswick bridge. Most evenings it is just the right level of busy that you can have a meaningful catch with friends. In the Spring and Summer the Sunsets from here are stunning. On weekends or most days during the summer *when the weather is good) it can get rammed. It is particularly know for being a great spot for catching the ‘Oxbridge’ boat race. I have had Sunday Lunch here a few times, which has by and large been very good. It can be a tad expensive though the quality has generally made it worth it. Great friendly staff that always seem to skilfully deal with the varying levels of foot traffic that this beautiful location attracts.
I visited the restaurant on a sunny evening with friends who had made reservations. There were two completely empty dining areas, and we had to beg to be served due to the long 30-minute queues for service. The pub seems to only stay in business because of its great location. It shouldn't be difficult to schedule enough staff, especially since it's always busy on hot days. It's a waste of commercial potential. I suggest going to the Black Lion instead.
This was so disappointing. The wine glass was very dirty, you could see multiple lipsticks on it. I asked for another and the bar tender just poured it in another glass.... The food was expensive and awful. The most basic, almost fast food burger costs 13.50. I don't know what happened to this place, it used to be good.
The Old Ship is a lovely pub on the Thames that is a great place to have a drink. We have been here a number of times and reviewed before. The food is very good pub fare not gastro pub but one level below. The setting is nice, we have almost always had friendly service (as we did again today) and they are very dog friendly putting out bowls of water and providing a supply of dog treats. We are happy to be regular customers.
Visited this place twice the same day. First only for a afternoon drink and that was really nice . Good view, good atmoshpere. Already then a bit slow staff but ok when only having something to drink. Went back after a few hours to eat because We thought it would be good . But NO. The Food is nothing special, don’t taste much. The worst thing is though that some of the waiters are very rude and don’t seem to enjoy their work at all. I will come back for a glas of wine, but I will never eat here again. It’s a pity, it could have been so good.
