Restaurant bewertenMy husband and I went to Charred and really enjoyed it. We had chicken and also a salad each. Was delicious. I will definitlely go back. Atmosphere was casual and friendly. Service was excellent.
This place is Swiss Chalet on "roids". I'd passed Charred a number of times and finally ended up eating there with my husband and son when son was home from uni. The menu is fairly limited but what they do, they do really well and it's a nice, unpretentious place to eat. There's a reason it's always packed - deliciously moist, charred chicken with Portuguese sauce that you can get to your level of "heat". I thought I was pretty tolerant of spicy food but their medium sauce nearly knocked my socks off. There are a few people I probably couldn't take here (my mother-in-law, my daughter and a good friend) just because they've no tolerance at all for spicy food, although I imagine Charred could accommodate them too (I have to remember to ask).
Almost everyone that I talk to that eats here thinks it's amazing but personally I do not love it. I mean, it's alright and I can eat it but would not be my first choice. The chicken is ok, and I get that the flavour is in the piri piri sauce which you are supposed to eat with it, but the chicken itself could use a little more seasoning, in my opinion. Chicken Caesar is overpriced.
I can't believe this place gets anything less than 5 stars! Their chicken is succulent and perfectly seasoned at great prices. The menu is simple & short but oh so good. Their house made Peri Peri sauce is incredible & goes with everything.
With the increasing gentrification of this neighborhood, it's lovely to find straight-up,tasty chicken, salads, soup and poutine that isn't overpriced. We often come for dinner as a family. Service is attentive and portions are generous.
