Restaurant bewertenNica's Market is small neighborhood, convenient, market known for their deli. They have a great selection of prepared foods, panini's, wraps, hot and cold sandwiches, pizzas by the slice, homemade soups, salads, stuffed breads and more. My wife ordered a slice mashed potato and bacon pizza, and a side cucumber and tomato salad.I ordered a lemon chicken hot sub. The sub was large and packed with chicken. The only problem was it wasn't hot, not even warm. There is a nice area to sit outside to eat. Problem here was the entire time we were swatting away bees. Two tables next to us, picked up their food and left. Food was good, but not the most enjoyable lunch.
Dominique, nique, nique S 'en allait tout simplement Routier pauvre et chantant The Singing Nun) Italian delis and grocery stores are one of our guilty pleasures, and Nica 's sure was a great one. We bought two sandwiches, 2 slices of pizza, and a big slice of banana chocolate chip bread for under $30. The sandwiches were both on a hard roll an Eggplant Parm $8) and an Italian Combo $9). Both were stellar in quality and quantity. The Eggplant was piled high with tender very thin breaded eggplant slices and sauce. It was a big sandwich and very generously portioned. The combo included big layers of capicolla, salame, provolone, and a thin layer of a single lettuce leaf and tomato slices. Half of each sandwich was plenty for our dinner, so we 'll get four servings out of the $17 we paid. Pretty outstanding value! The pizza slices $3 each) were a real gem. I wasn 't expecting them to be that outstanding, but they were exceptional in four ways the cheese layer was quite thick and delicious, same for the sauce, the crust was on the thin side and not soft and doughy, but most of all was the way the sauce and cheese were spread to the very edges of the crust, so there was no wide perimeter ring of boring crust. The chocolate chip banana bread was a huge slab of deliciousness. Plenty of banana flavor, moist thick cake, and a liberal sprinkling of big chocolate chips. Our $3.99 piece was easily split between the two of us and believe me, half of that slab was not a skimpy portion by any means. Bottom line the food was great, the pricing is fair, and the store is a lot more than a deli bakery, fruits, vegetables, cheeses, grocery staples, imported goods). We were impressed with our visit, especially with those wonderful pizza slices. PRO TIP When you order a sandwich, make sure you tell them up front EVERYTHING you want on the sandwich what kind of bread, what kind of cheese, what kind of topping s), what kind of condiments. Our guy never asked, and as soon as I said, Italian on a hard roll , he whisked off and made it the way he wanted to. When we said I didn 't want any oil and vinegar, he gave us the side eye before he tossed the roll in the trash and replaced it. Definitely an improvement opportunity for the Nica 's crew.
Great neighborhood spot to grab a quick sandwich or for the locals to do their grocery shopping. The establishment is clean, well organized, and fully staffed. The menu in the back of the store has a great assortment of both hot and cold sandwiches, catering, and salads. Everything looked super fresh and homemade. We tried the chicken cutlet, with fresh mozzarella, and roasted red peppers, on exquisite focaccia bread. It was delicious and a good value. The staff was friendly and welcoming. There is plenty of outdoor seating and parking on the street.
The food here is very good. However, they need to organize a little better with what they cook daily. When you don't live in the area you drive in only to be disappointed that they don't have anything you like. Can they just post the food options on Facebood or their website daily? This would be very helpful to those that don't live in the area. You try calling and the phone is busy at lunchtime. You call at 11:00 11:30 a.m. and they have no clue what they are serving for the day. Please get a better system going so those that don't live in the area know exactly what is on the menu (hot food items) for the day. Want to give you my business!!! Thank you so much. So I head to Nica's and it was an awful experience. I asked for middle piece of lasagna and the manager Rosario she was rude. The end pieces of the pan were hard and dry. She stated put some sauce on it. What I spent 14 bucks for a large dish last time. Why would I do that again. She gave me a small middle piece. Guess what this will be my LAST time coming to this deli. They certainly don't value the customer nor good customer service. Deli's are a dime a dozen between New Haven and Cheshire. Never again.
This place is very consistent. I like their chicken salad sandwich with lettuce onion and American cheese with black pepper. They have excellent prepared food.
