Restaurant bewertenI was craving Thai food, but wasn't up for dealing with the busy downtown traffic on a Saturday evening just to get takeout.
It has been almost a year since my last visit, but this restaurant remains one of my top choices for delicious and authentic Thai cuisine.
Stopped in for dinner while on a weekend visit to Halifax, and was pleasantly surprised. The service was very prompt and friendly, and the menu is quite varied. Their combination plates are plentiful and reasonably priced, with a nice assortment of options for the soup, etc. Had the coconut milk soup, which was delicious and went for my standby of Pad Thai, which was also very good. With five in our group, we were able to have a sampling of a number of different dishes. The red curry was really appealing, and so on. Overall, the food was quite good, the service was very good, and the price was reasonable. We would certainly go there again on our next visit to Halifax.
Service was of poor quality, food was ok, not the best. Had similar meal at Chaba and the food at Chaba tastes a lot better. The owner of the restaurant is greedy. I ordered the dinner combo with shrimp added in coconut soup and the server told me that there would be extra charge of $2 for the soup, but they ended up charging me $7 extra. They said that the dinner special combo can be ordered with shrimp at no extra charge, but they charged me $7 extra. The servers were not friendly and looked miserable at work and I was waiting for a long time. It was understandable because it was busy and there were two staffs. I felt bad for the staffs/servers there. I did not give them good tips because of the poor service, but the owner sell food at ridiculous price. The food is too expensive compared to the quality. Disappointing!
I went back to Thai Ivory for a second visit. Excellent, prompt but not at all rushed, caring service. Fine food. I had one of the lunch specials and it was great.
