Restaurant bewertenWe stopped here after snorkeling at Yal Ku. Very tasty food and friendly staff. We had the milaneza pollo. Very small seating area. Best for take out or a quick bite.
This little carry out place was right next to my rental and was a perfect late afternoon spot for a burger or quesadilla type sandwich. The chef took great pride in his product from the food to the wrapping. He was a little slow, but I was never in a rush. Did I mention this massive burger was like 60 pesos? Definitely a place worth stopping in if you visit the lagoon.
Que Onda Tortu-Go is located next to Hotel Que Onda and is one block from YAL-KU. Leonardo Lozano Ortega, owner and chef, is so friendly and goes out of his way to make sure your food is to your liking. If you love horchata, Leonardo uses his grandmother's recipe and I can tell you it is absolutely delicious just like the food. He serves traditional Mexican fare, either for sit-down or "TU-GO". While I normally feast on tortas and comida Mejicana, Leonardo can prepare a hambuger for you that makes your mouth water. You will love this small, charming location. TODO RICO. Feel free to contact Leonardo at [email protected].
We were staying very close to Que Onda and had dinner there on a Friday night when every place in North Akumal was very busy (including Que Onda). We could walk to the restaurant and it is not hard to find since it is very well lighted compared to everything else in the area. We had to wait for a table as there were several large parties so we settled into the bar and enjoyed the house margaritas (very good) and white wine. We ordered while in the bar and then were taken to a table before our dinners were served, which turned out to be very nice.Portions were generous with the pasta which is described as homemade is nicely cooked and the seafood prepared very well. Food was nicely spiced (not too much, but just right for our gringo tastebuds) and the ingredients were fresh.Service was casual, as we found every establishment in Akumal with no rush and also no urgency for us to vacate after we had eaten. They realize that most patrons are on vacation or retired and if you are dining at Que Onda you probably are not going to have any great rush to be someplace else, so enjoy a coffee and soak in the evening air and sounds. The outdoor seating was very comfortable and we will return on our next visit to Akumal. They do not take credit cards, so bring cash - either pesos or US dollars.
