Restaurant bewertenPopped in here a few months ago with a friend one night for a coffee and cake catch up. I had read online that they offer gluten free options so I was excited to try some. As it was around 7ish they only had one gluten free option which was chocolate torte. This certainly did not dissapoint! Generous portion that melted in my mouth. My friend had a taste and commentated on how good it was! The place was empty and the waiting staff were friendly and happy to leave us to our cake! Looking forward to a return visit!
I rarely dine out in the southside but I ventured through to meet my boyfriends dad and partner one evening after a rather eventful day shopping at Silverburn. I wasn 't exactly hungry and honestly didn 't know what I was going to be able to eat from their menu. Eat Cafe is a tiny little place, more like a little bistro that looks a little out of place amongst Shawlands high street. Staff are really friendly and the place is decorated very well. However, my issue with tiny little restaurants is that they squish tables so close together, it is like you 're sitting at a table for 4 instead of 2. Any closer and you 'd think you 're dining together! I always feel very self concious when trying to squeeze out of my seat, scared in case I bash their table or knock over glasses. Little grip over, onto the food.... I have no complaints. I ordered the Eat Café Steak Burger which was a chargrilled Scottish steak burger with swiss cheese, gherkins, tomato salsa chipotle mayo with some coleslaw and handcut chips. The burger was cooked very well, a little pink in the middle which is good in my eyes! terrific flavour coming from the burger with all the combinations of toppings. The handcut chips were fantastic. They were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside- just how you want them. Lightly seasoned, they were perfect for dipping into the chipotle mayo! I couldn 't finish everything on my plate, so my human dustbin boyfriend did they job for me. I will definitely go back to Eat Cafe and I 'd probably order the exact same thing all over again..... maybe choose my seat a little better though!
Been here a few times for breakfast and was really nice. Lovely French toast and the poached eggs were also good. They make the most amazing macaroons and at only 50p, they are a steal. Only thing is that hardly ever make them anymore, never any there when go in...or maybe I just go in too late! Went for lunch as well and the portions although tasty, were really small and not worth the price.
Shawlands Eat Deli Review Reviewed 25 November 2011 The Shalwands branch of Eat Deli has been open for a couple of months now. I 've made two visits. The 1st visit was with friends, they ate and I had coffee. My friends loved their food and my coffee tasted fine, although the large coffee I ordered was pretty small and a wee bit pricey. This may have been an error on the staffs part as the 2nd time I visited the coffee was larger. Teething problems are always OK with me. My 2nd visit with my partner was indifferent for me, but my partner enjoyed it very much. We both had breakfast and coffee. Her French bread, bacon and maple syrup was lovely and I had a breakfast sandwich bacon, egg, black pudding on crusty bread and a macchiato. The macchiato was cold and my breakfast was OK. However, the black pudding was raw in the middle. Maybe this is how chefs cook black pudding these days, but I prefer my offal cooked. This wasn 't a great problem for me, but I do like to be asked how my meal was, especially if I 've left half of it. They may have been too busy, although there were plenty of staff. I don 't know, but I didn 't get that welcoming vibe. However, the partner like 's it, so I 'm sure I 'll be back... Let me sum myself up, I like food in fact I love it. I have eaten in many cafes, restaurants and diners worldwide but I will attempt to be fair on every review I submit. This cafe as far as eating in the Glasgow Southside, this is one of the best. If you want to go for something simple, light yet satisfying this place has soup and sandwich combos down to a T. The warm ham hough baguette with the the soup of the day always goes down a treat. They have two different homemade soups daily; the smoked haddock chowder was hearty and full of flavour. For a starter I couldn't resist the Thai crab cake, very flavoursome and the perfect portion, a perfect thin layer of breadcrumb over the cake and a great chilli jam which complimented the the thai cake perfectly. The choices of drinks with your meal are of a high standard: ranging from your standard soft drink to San pellegrino. It's always necessary to finish off with a coffee and here completes the perfect package. However, if you want to divert away from a soup and sandwich and tackle something more adventurous, the steak burger is fantastic, accompanied with the perfect portion of chips and the coleslaw in the middle of the plate completes this dish highly recommended. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the food is of a high standard and it takes the right amount of time to be cooked therefore you know it's fresh. I would recommend this place to everyone.
