Grotto dei due Ponti - Giornico

Ich war vor mehr als 5 Jahren hier und wahrscheinlich hat sich die Lage geändert. Ich habe Rehrücken gegessen, aber es war keine Liebe im Gericht. Nichts Besonderes. Sie können es viel besser machen! Auf jeden Fall eine tolle Lage

Wir sind Einheimische und kamen nach Giornico, um die berühmten örtlichen Kirchen zu besichtigen und in dieser bezaubernden Grotte zu Mittag zu essen. Das Grotto dei Due Ponti liegt auf einer Insel und bietet seinen Gästen einen wunderschönen Blick auf den Fluss und das umliegende Tal. Wir genossen ein preisgünstiges 3-Gänge-Mittagsmenü mit mehreren lokalen Spezialitäten (Burratta, Wurstwaren, frischer Fisch) und einem ausgezeichneten Merlot. Die Qualität des Essens in Grotten kann unterschiedlich sein, aber dieses hier ist gut.

We had a civil wedding celebrated at the magnificent local museum(Casa Stanga).So one month earlier we booked a table for 11 peoples at the Grotto dei Due Ponti, which we know having on previous occasions enjoyed the Chef Arturo lovely food. We confirmed the booking 10 days prior to the event and even called 3 days before to modify the booking from 11 to 12 peoples.Now to our dismay when we got there we found ourselves sitting on 2 separate table of 8 and 4 seats. As the grotto was full there was no possibility to change the sitting arrangement. Disappointed? Your guess!!The solitary bright note...Chef Arturo endeavour to sweeten our disappointment with his culinary ability...and succeeding.Dante M

After visiting the churches of Giornico we came for a cold drink and coffee. The terrace under wine plants with solid tables and construction from massive granite is just wonderful. This place is a true gem if you leave the motorway on your way North or South. We did not try the food but with this view and style almost everything would taste :-)Style-wise you can ignore the few mistakes with plastic stuff and strange furniture but it would not take much to take this place to a level that would be very hard to beat for others.

The location was very nice between two bridges with a nice view on the river. The food was fine and not expensive. However, the service was rather poor which killed the appetite and the nce setting / location of the restaurant.
