Restaurant bewertenWhile I understand the theme is to be rude and fun with customers I believe there needs to be a line to be drawn. We were seated with another family which is perfectly fine. I heard the girl with us order the same thing I did. She ordered the Nashville hot chicken but extra hot and wanted to change her side of slaw to an alternative. Well when it came out I tried to bring this to the waiters attention who immediately was rude and handed me the chicken with no slaw and it was way to hot for my palette. While eating we over heard the girl complain about her chicken not being hot.
We loved the atmosphere however it was our sons birthday and they never recognized him, our food did not come as ordered and we never received our hats. For the price I expected better service.
I went there a few years ago and loved this. It’s great if you don’t mind some sarcasm and have a good sense of humor. Unfortunately, this time we had a new waitress and she said that four people had called in. Our service was extremely slow, we had an extremely rowdy group of people right next to us and they seemed to be getting all the attention. They sat us with strangers who were disgruntled already when we got there which didn’t help. We were finished eating when they finally brought our hats, which we had to ask for. Then we waited for a half hour for our check. Never got my water and was never asked if I wanted another drink. Food was much better than expected though. I was just so excited to share the experience with the family and my daughter and I had talked it up and it was very disappointing to say the least. I would go to another Dick’s but this experience left a lot to be desired.
The food was great and our server was phenomenal. It was the first time I have been to Dick's Last Resort and it was an experience I will never forget.
You go to Dick 's knowing what experience you are going to get... purposeful and intentional rude service. That 's a huge part of the gimmick. And it is the experience that my kids wanted having been to Dick 's before. It 's almost comical to say this, but our waitress wasn 't rude, rather extremely nice and courteous. I know, odd to complain about having a waitress that is courteous and friendly, however when you pay for a certain experience, that 's what you want to get... especially our kids. To be fair, it was our waitresses 2nd day on the job. So she may not have yet mastered how to treat customers in a fun, yet disrespectful way. That said, she also forgot to make the paper hats for us (again, something our kids were excited about) and she came to our table 3-4 times to clarify what we ordered (we didn 't order anything unique). All that said, I can forgive a new employee as it takes times to 'learn the ropes '. What I can 't forgive is that, after ordering a beer on the menu, I was told 10 minutes later that they ran out of that beer. And when I ordered a different beer, recommended by the staff, they didn 't tell me that it was one that would cost $10 because it came with a Dick 's mug. Ironically, the mug I was given read 'Dick 's Myrtle Beach '... we were in Gatlinburg. In my mind, these are more egregious because they are failures of the restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience was so poor that our kids don 't want to go again. Sad, because it was an annual tradition for our family.
