Jj's Tavern - Gainesville

My favorite place to visit on Thursdays! The music is fantastic, and the staff is incredibly professional.

JJ's is a decent bar. I'm from the Orlando area, and the bars there don't quite match up to the ones here in Gainesville. However, if any bar in Gainesville could compete with those in Orlando, it would be JJ's. The atmosphere is usually comfortable since they manage the crowd well, so it never feels overcrowded. That said, the drinks are quite expensive compared to other local bars, and the music is average—it could definitely be improved. If you find yourself bored on a Friday night, check if JJ's has any specials on cover charges or drinks; it might be worth your while.

I went with a group of coworkers to celebrate someone turning 18. I was the oldest person in the place, lmao. Had to explain what a gin tonic was to the bartender. Music was hot garbage… inexperienced DJ couldn’t seem to line up tracks correctly… randomly skipping from one thing to the next. Pic is of the line to get in on a Friday night.
