Pizzerias La Carbonara - Funchal

We ordered a Pizza here tonight and it was perfect thin crispy base, delicious topping of tomato, mozzarella, capers, anchovies, red peppers, mushrooms. Beautiful to look at and delicious authentic taste of an Italian pizzeria. We’ve been travelling for 2 months in Europe and offered ordered pizza. This was THE BEST! We will be back next week to try some pasta! Highly recommended you drop in for great Italian food.

I figure in order to get the best dish there you need to order the pizza. I am a solo traveller so I went with pasta. The cannelloni. Seemed promising. It wasn't my favourite. Service started out well before the futbal game on the big screen started. But it failed to please. It wasn't one of my better selections for a dinner in Funchal.

The fact that the locals use this place is a good indication. The food, service etc., is very good and it's one of our regular haunts when in Maderia.

We lived next door and we alsways saw a lot of locals there so we gave it a try. It's a pizza and pasta place. The stuff was friendly, the pizza was average, but is not the typical pizza you would expect, and the maracuja pudding is not recommended. My advice is if you are lazy to go to the city, is fine to go here.
