Restaurant bewertenThis bakery is highly over-rated. A few things are good such as the lemon squares but the breads are insipid and the service is very uneven. Today both a cinnamon roll and a scone were stale to the point of inedibility and a complaint to the server was met with a shrug and no offer of compensation.
I want to begin by distinguishing between the Bakery and the Restaurant. The Bakery is EXCELLENT. The RESTAURANT is poor. It wasn’t always this way. Several years ago The Happy Baker was always my ‘go to’ restaurant for catering meetings. Their Soups and Sandwiches were always the best in the city. This is no longer the case. I have always given Happy Baker the benefit of the doubt, and I’ve returned several times hoping that their food had returned to its former excellence. Sadly it has not. I’m not sure what happened but I miss the old Happy Baker fare. The Bakery, however, remains outstanding and for that reason I will continue to purchase breads and desserts.
I was looking forward to the subs etc. but there was absolutely not a single parking place in their lot at 10 am Sept. 20. Dundonald is a busy street so no parking there. Waited 15 min. for an open parking place and not a single car left. Left discouraged and upset.
Best peanut butterballs in town. I get a batch each winter, and by a batch I mean 4 batches.
Nice little shop for a coffee and a treat. Lots of couches and private ares to conduct a conversation.
