Restaurant bewertenMy instructions were followed to a T. The burger was phenomenal and of course the housemade mozzarella which is always delicious!!
This is a classic burger place across from TCU that is well known among students and alum. They're known for their burgers, but also do salads, bar food and other sandwiches. You order at the counter and the food comes out quickly. On this occasion I had their spin on a chicken fried steak sandwich, which was a chicken fried hamburger. It was very good. When school is in session, it can get very crowded and very loud here, but if you want an authentic TCU experience, this is one of the places to go.
It used to be much better, used to go every day but then quality of meat and rice started to become worse. The chicken is often overdone and burnt, the steak is very chewy and the rice is never cooked right anymore(almost hard not soft like rice is supposed to be). Quality has declined significantly in the past year!
I have been to Dutchs Hamburgers next door many times with no problems, so I thought i had an idea of what quality of food to expect. So I decided to try their burrito bar...huge mistake. I ordered a steak burrito. The steak is dry and unseasoned, looked and tasted like it had been cooked in the morning and had been sitting in the warming tray all day. The refried beans were a flavorless mush, the cilantro rice was average, the grilled onions/peppers were near raw they were crunchy and not properly cooked, queso was the best part of the burrito but it was by no means spectacular. Overall the burrito was likely the worst Ive ever had and it was 14$. 0/10 would not recommend. The store was clean and cool, the staff was personable, this was the only redeeming quality of the visit.
I was really excited to try this place after it was recommended by so many people I know. I can’t believe I was told it would be better than chipotle… it was honestly awful. The black beans in my bowl tasted like they had been sitting in chemicals. I was really let down. I wish the best for this business and hope they figure out how to improve.
