L'impératrice - Fort-de-France

If you like sleep, do not stay here. I repeat we had a MARCHING BAND outside our room until about 11:30pm. When they stopped loud music started and people were partying outside in the park into the morning hours. Normally this would not bother me if there was some festival going on but it was solely just people hanging out without a purpose. I live in a city so noise isn’t too much of a bother this was honestly comical, no noise ordinance at all. It’s a shame because the hotel is nice as well as the restaurant. But this was unforgiving. Oh and the AC in our room did not work and there was no one to get a hold of to let them know. I had to sleep with wet towels on me it was that hot, since I couldn’t open the doors to expose myself to more unwarranted noise. It’s a shame I left with a bad taste due to this. We’ll definitely not stay here in the future if we come back.

Hotel is located at idea location, building is old but rooms are in good condition. AC works perfectly fine but can be very noisy at night. Price is reasonable, elevator is old fashioned so it’s a little slow. Walkable distance to downtown and there are restaurants and shop nearby. Good place to stay for a night or two.

The night staff do not speak English. However, with a French speaker in our group this obstacle was easily overcome. Yet they still managed to not find our reservations, take twenty minutes to check each person in and overcharge most of us. When I got to the room, the toilet and the shower were clogged. Other than that, no complaints. Breakfast was decent.

Very old hotel which has been partly renovated. Furniture is very old-fashioned. AC in the room and there are things to make your own tea and coffee. Some staff members are not very friendly. Stayed there twice. Once they totally forgot to give us towels. I didn't try the so-called free WiFi or tv. Bed was comfortable. Nice view on the Savannah park (not an actual Savannah, it's just the name of the park).

Very nice hotel situated downtown. Nice breakfast, clean room, and friendly staff.
