Restaurant bewertenThe greeter/server, seeing my wife using a cane, asked if it was alright to seat us downstairs. We initially said we thought it would be easier to sit on the main level, until she pointed that downstairs meant walking down 3 steps. The server 's facility with English was limited. We ordered a bottle of wine, she asked how many glasses we wanted and we said 5. She opened the bottle and poured 5 glasses. About 5 minutes later she came out with a glass of wine for the unaccompanied woman. When we asked why, she responded that she thought the two couples were going to split the bottle. We originally said that we were going to split the cost. Despite the fact that they were understaffed, in addition to the greeter/server there was an assistant server/bus person, service never dragged. However, things were forgotten. We asked for additional rolls but none were ever brought. We asked for anchovies on the Caesar salads but they were omitted. Because there was only the 2-person staff, it was hard to get their attention to rectify the omissions. The food was well-prepared. The Bronzino special and the lamb shank Stroganoff were very tasty. The portions were abundant.
It was a Friday night with a live pianist in the room. Very nice overall, we had the Branzino and the Lamb shack and both were good enough, nothing memorable. Reasonable priced wines by the bottle (recommend the Chianti if you are OK with medium body wine). Lemon tart was great!
Delicious food, reasonably priced, quiet though we went at 5:30). Servings were enough to take home leftovers. Nice neighborhood cafe. Reduced prices on wine on Mondays! We will return. I had the beef stroganoff and my husband had the salmon with crabmeat special. Cocktails were 12.00 each.
Best home cooked food with real flavor. Could tell the difference between the big chain processed and premade meals compared to fresh and flavorful. It's a small place and fills up quickly. We showed at 6:45 with reservations but didn't need them but 30 minutes later it was full. Lots of locals frequent the place and the menu is excellent. Had the braised lamb shank with risotto and it was wonderful. So was the flounder in lemon sauce. Definitely recommend. And best they don't rush you like some restaurants do. It feels very local European taverna.
A menu where everyone can find a favorite. The rolls were hot, the gazpacho was flavorful, and the entrees were savory. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Chocolate Mousse Cake was a good example and a very generous serving. These days $50 each with a glass of wine is a good price when the food is good--and this meal was.
