Restaurant bewertenThis evening was supposed to be an amazing birthday celebration. Arrived at 7:30, had an appetizer and then they forgot about us. Munched on three measly pieces of bread that had been rationed (so thin).Reminded the server we ordered 45 minutes before, she apologised, went to the back, and then said there was a miscommunication in the kitchen. Came back 15 minutes later with dinner and, out of the three plates, 2 of them had HAIR in them. Yes, after an hour of waiting for the main, we get hair in 2/3's of our food. Not only that, but instead of not charging us for dinner, they charged us for the "fries" and the half-imbibed bottle of wine. After asking for the manager, was advised he was in the back but couldn't come out because he had STREP THROAT...in a RESTAURANT. Didn't ask if we wanted to leave a number to have him contact us. Paid for the wine and bolted it out of there. Don't know what happened to that place - it used to be so wonderful :(
I've gone here a few times now for brunch, drinks and snacks and dinner. Personally I think their dinner is their best time. The menu items come with so many amazing flavours and showcase a lot of creativity. Their brunch is good but I wish they had the same kind of creativity that the dinner menu has instead of playing it safe with standard brunch options. Definitely go for dinner!
We went to Goodlake for Sunday brunch. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered the bacon and eggs. The bacon looked and tasted like microwave bacon. I got one slice of bread (not buttered) and it was the same kind that you get at No Frills or Food Basics for $1.29/ loaf. The beans were canned beans and the side salad was wilted. They more than likely prepared the salad at 7 am and left it sitting in the dressing. I asked if I could replace the fried egg for poached eggs and I was told it would be an extra $1.50 to poach them! I asked the waitress why they charge more to boiling eggs and she went back to the kitchen to ask someone. She returned and said that it was extra for hollendaise sauce. I said I didnt ask for hollendaise sauce. She said they would not charge the extra fee. I'm not sure what happened to Goodlake. This restaurant used to be exceptional, but then one day all the wait staff had been replaced with new staff and the food became plain and made with cheap ingredients. I asked if the ownership had been changed as that would explain such a drastic change in things, but they said it was the original owners. Very disappointing to see this place go from a 5 star restaurant to at best a 1 star. The last thing I will add is that when we arrived, we asked if we could sit at the window. We were told it was a 4 top so we had to select a table for 2. There were only 2 other tables being used when we arrived. All the window tables sat empty for an hour until a couple walked in and they were seated at the window seat. If they want satisfied customers and the restaurant is empty, we should be able to select our seats and if not, please dont seat another couple at the same table we originally requested. It's rude and displays poor customer service.
This was our first time visiting Goodlake and were pleased with the atmosphere, staff, and quality of the food. We were there at prime dinner time. The staff were attentive to our table and dietary needs. Price point is quite fair for Toronto. Noticed when walking in that this restaurant is wheelchair accessible
Love the atmosphere at Goodlake. We were in for dinner, table for 4. The service was superior and the food was very good. Lots of interesting entree's to try, looking forward to our next visit.
