Restaurant bewertenWe went there this afternoon and ordered two Americano coffees with milk and sirup. the bareworkers forget both the milk and the syrup, although the trade was slow. I could have forgiven that since everyone has a free day sometimes, but they should. have seen the view of his face when I said (with a smile we asked for milk and syrup, I put the milk in him replied, rather in the way of a stereotypical little boy who denies the knowledge of a broken window. why on earth could not have said excuses and then put some milk in bed or give us a little milk, I really don't know. And as he thought I would have made the milk out of the cup while I left the black coffee untrunken, I don't know. I showed him the cups of black coffee and he insisted on everything I know that I must have hit the milk in my boner on the floor as he added and you did not ask for sirup they need to ask why such a person was ever busy in this line of work and why the management could not have found someone who was smarter and suitable to work, or train the person who hired him in the basement. there is simply no possibility that this setting would be to the customers in any serious caffe on the mainland on the screen. I have several caffes and I have never experienced such an employment. I'd get the personal in front of the far dance I've ever done. what made the experience even more shocking, was that two other employees, one of whom seemed older, and about four or five customers were quite close and safe within earshot.
We first visited coffee and one of their extensive cake selection. there is also a lunch menu that looked very appetizing. we then went to dinner for dinner when there is a 2 or 3 cure menu. the food was excellent and so beautifully presented. from restaurant there is a beautiful view over the harbour. my haggis filled terrine and huh was great and my man really enjoyed his scallops. there were many edible flowers on the food that made them look particularly attractive. the staff was very polite and attentive.

Small portions, and rude staff who treat customers as if they are morons for not knowing for example how many sizes of coffee cup are on offer. Actually that isn't the whole of the story. The junior staff there aren't particularly rude, but they are...extremely slow and slow-witted. I doubt any of them would be able to get a job in any kind of cafe in a big city, as a barista or whatever. It's the middling and senior staff who are rude, patronising, and xenophobic. If something is missing from your order and you bring it to their attention, you should just hear the tone of their voices they speak as if you've done something wrong! There are very few cafes I've ever been in, in any country, where such an attitude is evident. If you order coffee syrup, make sure you watch as they pour it in, because otherwise they may forget. I saw this happen four times, with two different members of staff. Strangely they didn't forget to ring the syrup up on the till though. Welcome to Stornoway. Also it's best not use phrases such as caramelatte or gingerbread Americano because the staff may look at you as though you're a loony talking gibberish. Stornoway simply hasn't got an adequately educated labour supply or the culture to support a place of this kind. Reviewers who have said An Lanntair has a buzzing atmosphere may well be friends of the people who run it. In fact it is usually empty or almost empty. It's basically a waiting room for the bus station. It is an extremely ugly building from the outside, and poorly designed inside too. The way it works with a place like this is that once the capital expenditure grant has been agreed, nobody gives a toss about ensuring anything at it is built to be aesthetically nice, or even functional in a straightforward sense. Thus for example nobody thought of having electrical sockets near every table so that people can plug laptops in. All they care about is keeping running costs down at least on paper. For a similar reason, the doors to the toilets don't close properly (basically the builders never did the finishing work), the lift often doesn't work, and the place is so horribly cold they're saving money on heating. Avoid An Lanntair if possible.
Food was poor..how can they get fish and chips wrong. Service was slow..only 2 staff on to cover bar/restaurant for a sell out event. The lady who served us was very pleasant, felt sorry for her. They need more staff, need to up the food...game. This is a lovely spot with good views..what a waste..Plus the lift is out of order( been like this for months)
