Restaurant bewertenThey have in the regular a few suppening, a few nets, some salads and sandwiches. a selection of cold drinks, a few hot drinks. sometimes a pudding like apple crumbs. I attended some concerts during the festival, in the church above, and some other events in the book festival, the other end of the george street. the underfloor was a good place to have a light lunch and a drink between the events. (this also applies outside the festival period.) beautiful homemade suppe. slightly lubricated like cauliflower cheese or a bowl chili. a little bit of a side salad with everyone usually with herb and some green. nothing spectacular, but I guess it 5* because it is what it is and the personal so friendly and...more
If they are looking for a cheap and quiet cursed before the festival delusion, this could be very good the ideal place for them
I’m honestly mostly writing this review just because the people were so kind and welcoming but it’s also a great value! I had a delicious ham&cheese sandwich with a nice scone. It is tucked away a little bit, in the basement of a larger building....No problem to find it on a map though.
I read about this cafe in Rick Steves' travel book about Scotland, and since we were staying in a hotel nearby, we checked it out for our first lunch in Edinburgh. We loved it! The staff was delightful and the food delicious. We felt immediately...at home there and not like tourists or strangers. It was as if we were visiting our local church for a meal with friends. We made sure to go back for our last lunch before we headed home to the states. We highly recommend this charming place in the heart of New Town if you want great food for a really good price in a comfortable setting.
Always a warm reception when you go here, the food is always fresh and sometimes unusual, you will love it. Go back frequently.
