Restaurant bewertenI have been using Petonito?s for years. I haven?t ordered a cake since the new owners purchased. I won?t be ordering a cake again. 1. The sweet girl that waits on you didn?t know what box to use for a 10? round . The older woman handed her the correct box. The girl said it doesn?t close. Yes. A cake box that won?t close. Plain white with no bakery name on it AND can?t close due to it not being deep enough to fit the cake. I said ?you can?t close the box? ? The older woman said ? We tent it! You?re fine!? 2. Whipped cream frosting tasted older. Like the cake was made days ago sat in the fridge. 3. The cake was dry. 4. The raspberry was thick gummy either older or not of great quality? 5. I asked for two roses I got six roses. (Wasn?t a big deal) Needless to say for a $50.00 10? round birthday cake that doesn?t fit in the plain white box I BARELY give this review a 3. Petonito?s used to be the old school Italian bakery quality you?d expect. Won?t be back.
We ordered my mom?s birthday cake from Petonito?s this year, and they did an absolutely fantastic job! She requested a chocolate cake with strawberry mousse and whipped cream frosting that had a St. Patrick?s Day theme, and I was blown away when I saw the cake come out. Thank you for making her birthday so special! I couldn?t help but pick up some zeppole and cannoli while I was there, and I was impressed that the cannoli shells were homemade too. The zeppole were honestly some of the best I?ve had. Amazing job all around!
I always knew of this place from my parents because they got their wedding cake here over 25 years ago but I had never been a customer here myself until today the day before mother's day. I came in looking for a few speciality cannolis but they didn't have much in the case which I understood but the person working behind the counter insisted on checking what they had available and making fresh ones for me. Lovely place!
I would like to thank Petonito?s for going above and beyond what I think other shops may have not done onMother?s Day. I called for a last minute order for 6 cupcakes. When I asked what they had available (I fully believed I?d buy already prepared cupcakes). But No! The lovely woman on the phone readily offered to prepare any cupcake with any filling and be fully decorated to our specifications. Wow I was amazed. After giving her my order she said they would be ready in 30-40 minutes. Again, very impressed! The cupcakes were beautiful and delicious! All for 2.50 a piece! Without any hesitation I now have a new go to bakery. Thank you to all at Petonito?s.
Petonito 's pastry shoppe is an Italian baked pastry which opens in new haven, connecticut in 1954. it was founded by salvatore petonito. the sohn Italian immigrants, salvatore received his first training as bakers in the age of 11 years, when he worked with the 1930s in lucibello’s pastry shop. he was inaugurated in the second world war in the marine and worked as a baker on several ships during his mission. after his return to home, salvatore would later open his own 'pasticceria' on the grand avenue in new. In 1960 he moved the bakery to the main street in east haven, where it still stands today. he worked several years with his wife dolores together and finally began to work his son mark behind the counter. brand would take over the business after his father was in retirement. salvatore died in 2011. in 2019 the business was sold to couple michael and regina falcigno criscuolo. regina had worked in petonito from 1983 in 1994 and had dreamed of a day that had its own bakery. all employees of petonito worked there under the possession of criscuolos. besides the classic Italian baked pastries, cakes and cakes, which were always baked at petonito 's, the criscuolos would add new menu items such as cupcakes, muffins, scones, coffee and cappuccino. my wife and I have been enjoying petonitos pastries since our high season. we came very close that they bake our high-time cake, but we finally went with another baker. together with our son, we have recently stopped shortly before Valentine's Day. that was our first personal visit since the acceptance of the criscuolos. we loved how they rebranded the place and the personal was friendly and accommodating. we decided to have three of their Valentine's Day themen cannoli: chocolate covered truffle, red velvet and conversation heart. they tasted better than they looked. I also ordered my favorite dessert: chocolate lemon pie. this cake (together with culinary ideas that have brought Italian immigrants from amalfi) can only be found in a handful of Italian bakeries in the large new haven. petonito 's version is excellent! regardless of the opportunity you will not find a lack of delicious pastries at petonito 's!
