Restaurant bewertenEaten here a few times. All in all good food. Most recent was for a Sunday Roast with family and friends. The only downside for us was the poor customer service, when we questioned an irregularity on the bill, the member of staff went to discuss with others, however if you are going to have that discussion, perhaps not do it directly in front of the customers and effectively make sly comments towards us. We were polite and courteous, when we highlighted our irregularity, so would expect the same in return.
Visited here one evening as we’d seen this prominent restaurant on our travels along the A35. Nice big carpark, but a shame there isn’t an entrance from the carpark itself (you have to walk round the front of the building to access it). Friendly enough service, but the interior was quite bland and uninspiring. Our starter of loaded nachos was very tasty with plenty of cheese and jalapeños. We both had burgers for our mains which weren’t especially big and came with a smattering of chips and some coleslaw (no salad). The gluten free burger option came with a very stodgy bun and lacking the onion rings that my husband had on his non-gf option. Very sparse on the Stilton cheese in mine too. Ok if you need something to eat late in the evening, but there were far better eateries in the local area.
We paid £40+ for a cold, hard jacket potato, some chicken nuggets and disappointing fish and chips. It’s dog friendly, which is great, but felt very cramped and could feel the glaring eyes of non dog owners. Definitely not worth the visit, and is very overpriced have had better at a more reasonable price with friendlier staff.
My sister has lived 300 yards from this pub for over 25 years so I have visited often and always found food and service good. However on my sisters birthday 22.09.19 the food was adequate but the service was very poor 0ne meal was suppose to have had bread had to ask for it, had to ask for spoons to eat desert.did not get an ordered drink and would have liked coffee but was not offered. May be better on the week but would not go on a Sunday.
Ate here recently and while the food was tasty and reasonably priced, it didn't feel as dog friendly as the sign proclaims it to be. Few of us had the lamb shank which although not the leanest piece of meat (but lamb isn't always) the mash and accompanying veg were cooked perfectly. We were however very much encouraged to sit in the lower bar (felt we were out of the way), and service was consequently perhaps slower than if we'd been welcomed into the main bar. There's a beer garden out back but lots of signs saying dogs not allowed on the grass, so it was absolutely unclear whether we could have sat out there with our pups or not? If you're visiting here without dogs I'm sure it may a five star, but for us, we wouldn't bother to go back we've been welcomed more in other places.
