Mi Barrio - Durham

A local, quiet hole-in-the-wall indeed. But the best Mexican food we have found in East Durham. While the menu is Tex-Mex like, the food is much more authentic and tasty than your normal Tex-Mex place. In a small strip plaza by a gas station, i.e., don't go for the ambience. Go for the stellar food.

I recently visited a charming restaurant located next to a gas station. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was exactly what you would hope for in a cozy Mexican eatery. The fajitas were generously seasoned and satisfyingly large. The mole was absolutely fantastic. It was definitely worth the journey. The huarache was thinner than other places I've tried, but still packed with flavor, making it easier to wash down with a drink.

I live right around the corner from "Mi Barrio" restaurant, so it's practically my neighborhood spot. My family has been dining here for years and we always enjoy the generous portions and affordable prices. The only downside is the restaurant's location and decor, but that's not really their fault. The place is always clean and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend trying the macho burrito or enchiladas suizas when you visit.

The restaurant offers very reasonably priced dishes with large portion sizes.
