Restaurant bewertenJust seconds after we took our first bites, she came back to ask how we wanted to split the bill. Our check arrived before we had even finished dessert. We had all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and then the waitress announced she would bring us dessert, but what we received were bowls with a specific type of ice cream we had no choice in selecting. To make matters worse, another staff member informed us that they knew the service was lacking, yet we still felt unwelcome. Fifteen minutes later, we left. This experience has ensured that none of us would ever consider returning, despite my brother's family visiting frequently. We'll be sure to share our experience with others as well. If we had been particularly demanding or troublesome, I might have understood the poor service, but we were just a family trying to enjoy a meal together. I expect busy restaurants to have a waitlist on a Saturday night, and under normal circumstances, I would have been okay with that and would consider coming back another time. However, the way we were treated is unacceptable. Good luck to Altony's, as they lost several customers yesterday, and we will definitely be spreading the word that they don’t seem to value their customers.
The hiring practices here have led me to conclude that I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
This is a fantastic little restaurant! They offer generous portions for each meal, and every dish comes with a salad and a refreshing drink to complete the experience. My personal favorite is the lasagna.
To make matters worse, while two of us were still enjoying dessert, another staff member approached us and said something like, "I know this is a little awkward, but I'm not asking you to leave, but there are people waiting to be seated." My mom pointed out that it sounded very much like he was asking us to leave, and as he stumbled over his words, my sister-in-law, who was furious, suggested he just walk away. They effectively invited us to leave, and we did so 15 minutes later. However, by doing this, they lost any chance of us wanting to return, even for takeout (which my brother’s family used to do regularly), and we won’t hesitate to share our experience with others. If we had been a disruptive or demanding group, I might understand their approach, but we were simply a family gathering to catch up. At any busy restaurant, I expect there may be a wait for a table on a Saturday night, typically on a first-come, first-served basis. If I don’t want to wait, I know I can choose to visit another place and return later. But great job, Altony’s—you lost several customers yesterday, and we are definitely spreading the word that you don’t seem to want them.
The attitude of the staff makes this a place I would never recommend to anyone.
