Restaurant bewertenUnderstaffed, so waited a while for seating and food. Eggs were way overcooked, but they took them off the bill even though we did not ask.
I’ve been to Des Moines twice and had to get to Royal Mile both times. The atmosphere is friendly, the staff is excellent, and it has one of the best whiskey selections I’ve ever seen. If you love scotch, it’s the place to go. The Guinness Stew is fantastic. Next time I’m in town, I’m there.
I've been getting the fish and chips here for years. On my most recent visit they reduced the size of the full order to the equivalent of the lunch order. The slaw was inedible, after noting this with staff, no attempt was made to rectify the issue. Reducing the quality of such a staple entree seems odd, but food and service are usually hit or miss. I'll likely reduce the frequency of my visits until quality improves. The French toast is great, I hope they haven't messed with it. For a pub atmosphere, the beer is very pricey. Location is quickly becoming the winning characteristic of this establishment.
Nice pub in downtown Des Moines which good wholesome food that is very reasonable. Try the steak and ale pie as a brit this was around 85% authentic in taste so as close as you get to a traditional one that you would get in the U.K.
Bummed out to write this review. Kitchen and bar are out of sync. Took 45 mins to get our appetizer and it was burnt took another 30 minutes to get our food. Food just wasn't up to par with neighboring spots. The bar tender with the backwards hat and glasses seemed like he didn't want to be there and his effort towards the people at the bar reflected that.
