Restaurant bewertenFirst, this restaurant is much improved. The interior has been updated the whole layout of the dining room reconfigured for a cozier feel. And they have finally improved the lighting!!! There are now comfortable booths tables, along with a couple of high top tables in the back for the younger patrons. The food selection is much better too. The last time my lunch group ate here we all admitted to having terrible meals. This time we had more sandwich choices along with some Irish food I didn't see large, unappetizing chunks of unseasoned, under steamed cruciferous vegetables on anyone's plate. I did try to get a Shepherd's Pie without peas by calling ahead; I'm allergic to peas. But even calling two hours ahead got me an unsympathetic no from the girl manager. So absolutely no special orders on the food. My Rachel Ruben was good, if greasy. Our server was too busy something we've come to expect post pandemic so service was on the slow side. The real beauty of this restaurant is the neighborhood bar atmosphere the nightly live music by local musicians. I really appreciate the owners working hard to provide music. So come in the evening, have a drink listen to some music. The food is safe to eat now, too, if not spectacular. I'd come for lunch or dinner more if they'd hire a real chef to oversee their restaurants' food. Still, this place much improved for a South County restaurant.
Great decor; friendly service; good music. Food is really good. Been here a few times very consistent. Bar, patio snd main dining room are all fun places to enjoy a meal. Love the corned beef and cabbage; the ms. Shirley crabcake, and the corned beef popper apps. Pretty much enjoy everything on the menu. Did not love the vegetarian boxty: too many peppers and nothing else, but the potato pancake was very good.
1. Cutest restaurant that makes you feel at home in Ireland 2. NICEST staff and many are from Ireland. 3. THE FOOD! Wow is all I can say. If you liked corned beef, don't skip it! It is possibly the best corned beef I had ever had such tender corned beef ever. I got the reuben which was very good and their fries are awesome. I tried a taste of other friends meals and everything was delicious. I cannot wait to go back!
We love Kilarney House and have eaten there often. The last 3 times we have brought our service dog (my husband is a disabled veteran) we have been seated in the parking lot tent rather in the dining room even when we have made reservations. When we have asked to be moved to the dining room we were met with resistance and a raised voice from the managers. The last time this happened we were with a group of 21 and they wanted to put our table outside. Prior to this we were always welcome inside with the service dog.
My brother has been ranting about this place to me for over a year. Had the Shepard's Pie. Fantastic! The Irish Coffee was amazing. My niece ranted how good her chicken strips was. Got there right at the end of dinner rush. Signs indicated short staffed, but cleared out by the time our food came. Will be back.
