Epicure Restaurant Tafewa - Davenport

Fabulous evening being spoilt with gorgeous food and very attentive service. Have been going here for many years and always have a an amazing meal. It is a training restaurant so can sometimes have some serving mishaps...spilt drinks, etc. The service is exceptional generally though as staff being trained in silver service. Highly recommend.

A large group of us went here for birthday celebrations and due to our large numbers we were seated across 2 tables. the dinner was a 5 course degustation which I had with wine pairing. The food was delicious, I really enjoyed each of the dishes. They were all well cooked and sufficient in size to enjoy and without becoming over full. The downside was the wine seemed to keep coming quickly, in reality it was served just prior to the dish it matched. A very nice touch was the chefs coming out at the end of the night to meet the diners. A really lovely touch and they got to hear firsthand the opinions of their guests. Overall a fantastic night and all up it cost about $80, 5 course dinner, aperitif and wine pairing. I'll be back for more.

Have visited this training restaurant a number of times over the years and always been very impressed by the quality of the food. The menu is often adventurous. The type of menu varies during the year and can be a la carte, set, or degustation, There is also a Christmas menu. The food is always beautifully cooked and presented and the quantities are generous. It can be difficult to get a booking as the restaurant is open only during term times, only a couple of times a week and does not seat a huge number of people. The prices are very good and much cheaper than the main restaurants. The competence of the students waiting on the tables varies with amount of experience they have, but they are well supervised and are instructed as they go along, when this is necessary. A nice treat to go here from time to time.

I dined here recently with friends just to try something different. We had the set menu for $28pp which was a 3 course meal. It was all really delicious and plenty of food. The dessert was amazing and one of my friends asked for the recipe which was gladly printed out for her to take - but probably won't attempt as it involved many steps!! hahaha. The students were a bit nervous but very eager to please and do things right - they were well supervised. Very reasonably priced and a nice night out mid week which wasn't late as 6:15pm start.

My husband & I dined here just before the break and was happy with the service and food. We visited on a buffet night, but I will be booking on an al a carte night next time. The Students do a great job and the settings are very professional.
