Sobeys Russell Lake - Dartmouth

First trip to Nova Scotia and Halifax with no knowledge of any grocery stores. Sobeys had everything we needed for provisions to set up for our mini vacation here in Halifax.

No customer service desk . Tried to find someone that knew if they had a product I was looking for . Asked a few people. Like deer in headlights . Not a clue . Went to superstore and got what I wanted .

Ran in the get a protein drink mix, they had it and left. Happy.

When you buy avocados there in the self checkout you type “Avocado” it will suggest only fancy avocado varieties like organic. You need to search “avAcado” to get the cheap ones, that you are probably buying. They all look the same. I’m like 90% sure this is intentional so you pay more accidentally. I’ve seen the same rude trick with sweet potatoes as well.Most expensive Sobeys in HRM too. Produce isn’t even that high quality.

I frequently visit this location as it’s convenient to my office. The staff is friendly and well stocked. It’s nice seeing some new items hitting the shelves. It pains me that some items are more expensive than the competitor a few minutes away, but i will sometimes just bite the bullet to shop in the smaller store.
