Restaurant bewertenA couple of weeks ago, on the way to taking my husband to Brisie Airport, we stopped off for breakfast at the Leather Lane Cafe. Before we left, I called them up to find out exactly where they were located, & was told that they were based in the BMW Mini Showroom.Hmmmm... that should be interesting-I had never heard of a cafe being set in a car showroom before... well don't let that put you off! The setting was certainly different, but it made the experience much more fun!Our breakfasts was one of the best breakfasts we had ever enjoyed! Not only is the setting different, but so is The Lane's breakfast menu; no eggs benedict ( which seems to be on EVERY restaurant/cafe breaky menu! ) to choose here, but a bacon packed burrito, pea&ham omelette, avo & feta on sourdough with a balsamic&avo oil, & it goes on!All in a wonderful setting, seated amongst brand spanking new & shiny motors-on one side BMW Minis, & with motorbikes on the other, you are literally surrounded by shiny chrome & powerful vehicles-different & fun!Not having had black pudding for YEARS, I went straight for the breakfast that included it...a Leather-Lane-take on a full English; black pudding, bacon, poached eggs & mushrooms. And I must tell you, the Black pud was absolutely DEEEEELICIOUS!!I can be quite a "foodie" at times, & their black pud was cooked EXACTLY how it should be! And the bacon? Crispy, & with several slices, make sure you are super hungry- 'cause you won't want to leave anything left on the plate! The only negative thing about my breakfast choice, was that my poached eggs were not soft with a runny yolk, as requested... but hey, I still very much enjoyed my breakfast! My husband chose the breakfast burrito; absolutely crammed with bacon, rocket salad, egg & LOTS of Cheddar cheese (& I mean LOTS of cheese! ) this was, by far, a very moreish dish....& he absolutely LOVED it!!So the breakfasts got big ticks, but how about the coffee?Well, I wasn't impressed; I may be a "foodie", but I also know my coffee, & I can be fussy with that too. My cappuccino wasn't strong, or made entirely with froth, as requested. And my husband, who is alot less fussy (in fact, he doesn't like to fuss at all), ordered a mocha, & wasn't impressed either, trading only chocolate & no coffee whatsoever. So, all in all, I highly recommend the breakfasts! And if you definitely get a kick out of being surrounded by expensive goods, or any type of vehicles, you'll love the Leather Lane Cafe & it's breakfasts!
The cafe/bar itself is quirky and just really fun to sit and eat and/or drink in.
I'm not a fan of coffee, so I let the others in my brunch group make the coffee-related decisions.
I was in Brisbane this past week and was staying near Elizabeth Street.
To start, the portions are on the smaller side and quite pricey, but the food is enjoyable. My plate was missing some items that were supposed to be included according to the menu. I mentioned it to the staff and they promptly rectified the situation. However, the same issue occurred with the table next to mine. If you're looking to have coffee and cake, it's probably fine, but I would avoid the chocolate brownie or chocolate cake. The coffee was lacking in strength and was served cold. The highlight of the experience was the new employee, who provided us with excellent service.
