Restaurant bewertenI've loved this place for as long as I can remember! However, just the other day we ordered four meals to go. When we got home, we noticed something was off. The sauce seemed to have changed, and we all felt the same way. I'm really hoping this was just a one-time issue because I've enjoyed countless amazing meals here over the years! Unfortunately, for the first time, I had to thicken it up and add ingredients to a sauce that tasted bland and watery. I still plan to visit, but if this is their new sauce, I may not be stopping by as often. Please don’t change what’s delicious!
The sauce was a bit too simplistic and lacked traditional flavors like garlic and basil. The ravioli was delicious, and the sausage had a slightly coarse grind with a delightfully sweet flavor. The meatball was generously seasoned and should definitely be ordered every time. The Family Style menu item, which included cavatelli and spaghetti, felt like too much of a good thing. Since cavatelli is a dumpling-like pasta and spaghetti is, well, just regular pasta with the same red sauce, it didn’t offer much distinction or contrast to the dish. They also serve a pepper jack cheese sauce, which I think they should consider pairing with one of the other pastas (for example, spaghetti with red sauce and cavatelli with white cheese sauce). The breadsticks were soft and warm but a little too salty. The atmosphere was spacious enough, and the tables were filled with families. The photos on the wall highlighted that the family business is truly about family. So, was it okay? Absolutely. Would I drive 100 miles round trip again? Probably not. However, if you're closer and looking for good value for a family night out, especially with children who would appreciate an easy menu, I’d be more than happy to recommend this place and support the family business.
Bona Casa is absolutely excellent! Just a heads up—this is real Italian cuisine with authentic recipes and sauces! Your taste buds will be in for a delightful surprise! The pasta is made from scratch, just like the sauce. If you’re in the Cumberland, Wisconsin area, this is the only place to eat! If you’re unsure about what to order, I highly recommend my favorite dish, the ½ and ½: one half features delicious Chicken and Cheese Ravioli, while the other half is Cavatelli (pronounced Cav-a-tel-li)! The food is definitely worth the price, and the portions are generous—just like an Italian mom would serve you. As for the cost, the prices match the portion sizes and are comparable to a fast food restaurant. Bona Casa is located just 2 or 3 miles outside of Cumberland!
