Restaurant bewertenThis restaurant could be benchmark for other restaurants in croydon. Thank you. oscars team for beautiful evening. will be safe again, woman jenning
The food we had was good. The starters were great. The roast beef was lovely. There is a good choice/range of food on offer and it is value for money. The wine was a bit grim. Wouldn't do the wine again and would buy a bottle that's not in the deal. The restaurant is a dated design like going back to the 1980s. Quite liked it's dated faded look. Only criticism is there are little fruit flies around which is off putting.
We have visited Oscars Brasserie at The Croydon Park Hotel in Croydon on several occasions over the years. There is parking at the hotel to the rear. The restaurant itself is nice and there is a separate bar to sit and have a drink before dining. The cold “starter” section is excellent with everything you could want such as salmon, prawns, mackerel, sliced cold meats and different salads. The hot “mains” section includes roast beef, roast turkey, fish and other dishes with rice and vegetables etc. There are plenty of dessert choices too with coffee to follow. Years ago a half bottle of wine was included with the meal but that has not been the case for some time. You can help yourself to as much of the buffet as you want and the price is good for this. We have found the quality of food is not what it used to be especially the hot food. The roast beef, which is carved on a separate trolley, is rather chewy and tough and the vegetables over cooked and the roast potatoes soggy. These problems can be overcome and the service is generally good. We were here last Boxing Day with the family and have booked again for Sunday lunch for the two of us in December so will see how it is.
This place is slowly going down hill, looking tired worn in places too. As I sat down I noticed a huge stain on my seat, actually double checked to see if it was wet. The buffet could be a lot better. The turkey was dry some of the dishes were a bit dry. The dessert section conditions needs to be improved. While I was helping myself to the chocolate gateau I disturbed a dozen fruit flys eating from it. It generally has everything you need to fill you up for a dinner. I was going to be having my birthday meal there, after our visit now it’s a definitely no no. This place could easily be the most classy place to eat in Croydon but for that a serious investment is needed to bring it back on track. The Competition isn’t exactly difficult in Croydon to beat. As with all places the clientele makes a huge difference too, that’s why I was keen on this place. Not any more... For that we award you the 2 circles.
We’ve been holding family celebrations at Oscar’s Brasserie for over 25 years. It’s very reasonably priced, quiet and spacious enough to have conversations, and the service is always good. But the range and quality of the buffet had, in my opinion, declined over the past few years. However, we were very pleasantly surprised by today’s spread. More choice of salads, the return of the whole salmon, vegetables that weren’t overcooked, and a good range of hot options. We enjoyed a really delicious meal, so well done and thank you chefs!
