Restaurant bewertenI really want to give this restaurant 4 stars (or, as this is Tripadvisor, four circles, I guess. If I judge Cava de Volonté strictly with regard to the friendliness and professionalism of the waiting staff, the relaxed, elegance of the interior design, the presentation of the food and the charm of their Cava, I would certainly give the restaurant four stars. But the problem is: The food is really not so good. Three stars are average values and that's exactly what the food was. Average. You expect a lot more from a restaurant like this, a restaurant that makes so much right. But it fails on one thing that is more important than all others. The quality of the food was just not there. My wife and I came to find a nice table waiting for us and then went down to the wine cellar where we offered a free glass of wine and some appetizers. All this was excellent... especially the roasting leg of pork, which we search for Cava de Volonté 's abundant wine selection. Until here the restaurant offered a wonderful experience. We chose a bottle of wine and then went back to our table and ordered a few appetizers and our net. The appetizers were completely unlustered ... and very overpriced in terms of quantity and quality. I ordered Mellejas. The entire appetizer consisted of three tiny Mollejas on a band of toast. That would have been really good if they were spectacular. Or even excellent. Or even good. But the sweet breads were dry and tasteless. They had none of the outer caramelized cripples and inner cream of good Mellejas. The plate was very nice. But a pretty dress doesn't make a supermodel. For the main, I ordered the aged Sirloin I think this is the most expensive dish on the menu, so I really did take something special. But if this steak was aged more than a few hours, I'd be shocked. It had no intensity or beefiness of genuine aged meat. The steak itself was perfectly cooked, but was quite dry and had no distinctive taste there was nothing that justified the price tag. We shared a Tiramisu for Dessert. It was very nice. The coffees were good. The menu boasted an extensive collection of Johnny Walkers blue, gold, green, etc. I ordered the gold just to be quite surprised when the waiter told me that the ONLY whisky they had was the Johnny Walker red, the pedestrian of all. (So why list all others in the menu??? My wife and I were among the most (probably all top-tier restaurants in Córdoba. Cava de Volonté was the most expensive. And, honestly, the worst. There are 4 and 5 star reviews on Tripadvisor for Cava de Volonté. This means that I met the restaurant in a bad night, or that I am more difficult to please than most people. I can imagine coming back to test the former hypothesis, because I really enjoyed it and appreciate all the things that the restaurant did well.
We went from 7 Pasos to the family dinner on Wednesday and were very well received by the venerable waiters. After the order we were invited to the basement for a glass of wine and some tapas. Each stage was accompanied by the corresponding wine that was included in the price. I can only recommend this restaurant because you can't find much better.
I was here during the New Year's reception. It was a delicious dinner, the staff is really friendly and the food very delicious. The building is modern and very well furnished. Totally recommended.
