Cafe Montanha - Coimbra

We finally ordered drinks, but the waiter seemed distracted when he came to me and asked me what my man ordered? he came with what looked like our drinks, but he took them on the wrong table in error, but he realized that they were for us. then we ordered two salads, no sweet wood and no house dress for me. he asked me again what I ordered? the salads came, but I asked for oil and vinegar, I had to go in and ask for it again. in general a very pleasant caffe and lunch was good. the waiter obviously had other things in the sense.

He returned again asking me what it was I ordered? The salads came, but I asked for oil and vinegar, I eventually had to go in and ask for it, again. Generally a very pleasant café, and lunch was fine. The waiter obviously had other things on his mind.....

Dropped into the cafe on spec for a coffee and ice cream which were fine but then absolutely appalled when visited their toilet prior to moving on. To be honest if public health had visited, the cafe would have been closed. No water in the toilet and no flush. Indescribable mess in toilet and paper everywhere. A true horror story in terms of hygiene. Do not go there

Lunch stop after visiting the library and university. It was a tricky cobbled and steep journey down to the river area from the university. We were glad to sit and rest. We ordered beer and 1 pizza and 1 spaghetti bolagnaise, a coffee and an ice cream for about 35 euros. Staff were not particularly welcoming. I had to ask for Parmesan cheese which came in a nearly empty shaker and had an additional piece of plastic sprinkle on my meal. The toilets were only 1 for a female, 1 for a male so there were queues. They were dark and not well cleaned. Situated in a pleasant area for river views and people watching and an easy pick up for the many coaches. Shops selling handicrafts were nearby. The WiFi was a general town based web site and was not strong enough to work correctly. Disppointing

The staff at this cafe were very helpful in our effort to choose something for breakfast for the next day. They were so great that we came back the next night. Nice display and low prices.
