Restaurant bewertenMy friend and I found ourselves at this restaurant by chance after being disappointed by two other places we tried. From the moment we arrived, I felt like I had stepped into the South. The hospitality was exceptional; the staff were warm and welcoming. The food was fantastic—way better than we had anticipated. My taste buds were truly in for a treat! After our meal, we checked into our hotel and fell asleep, completely satisfied. Oh, and we sat at the bar since we were informed that was the only seating available.
I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. My waiter, Jaylen, was attentive and ensured we were well taken care of, keeping our drinks full throughout our visit. He did an excellent job. The food was delicious, and the soul rolls were especially amazing. Everyone there was really friendly as well.
The soul rolls are consistently a reliable and delicious option. The food was served at the perfect temperature, and we didn't have to wait long after ordering for it to arrive. The staff was friendly and attentive. We visited for lunch, and aside from a few takeout orders coming in and out, the place was quite empty. I've had some negative experiences with Zanzibar in the past, often having to wait over 40 minutes for our food, but I can see that the management is making a commendable effort to improve things and create a better impression in Cleveland. Please support this Black-owned business!
Google black owned business while in Cleveland Ohio and this spectacular restaurant pops up. The pictures, atmosphere, staff, food, drinks, the list can go on of how wonderful this restaurant is. We went during All Star weekend and its located minutes away from the Cavalier's arena so there was a bit of wait. The peach cooler was said the be divine. The house potatoes was a step up for scalloped potatoes. The greens were cooked in the most succulent way. Thw rice and salmon cakes were a must try and they did not fail. My only complaint was the macaroni and cheese was just macaroni. I was sad for sure.
Having visited the Shaker Square location previously, I was looking forward to a good meal. That was accomplished and was delicious overall, however, I found not all dishes arrived hot to me (the House potatoes, for instance). Also, please note that all Zanzibar restaurants do not share all menu items. This visit, their jerk chicken wing dings (accompanied with Cajun corn and corn muffins, sides changeable upon request), the catfish meal (accompanied with cole slaw, but is also changeable upon request), coffee, and a soft drink known as The Sunrise (made with lemonade and red Koolaid). Even though I was very hungry, pictures have been provided for your viewing pleasure! If you fancy a soul food meal and just happen to be in the Downtown Cleveland area, go ahead and give them a try. 4/5
