Went here for family Thanksgiving dinner we all got soon sick. Food was terrible… awful.. don't go

Service was friendly and attentive and the food was amazing.

I'm a local and have been to Hege's many times since it opened 20 ish years ago. It's the best high end restaurant on Johns Island/Kiawah/Seabrook and outside of downtown Charleston. I'd rank it as top 10 in the entire area. Much debate about that no doubt as downtown has a number of world class restaurants. Most of the negative reviews are about walk-ins without reservations. My husband and I tried to walk in to have a cocktail at the bar. Was told that there were reservations for the bar. (There was one couple there. we spoke to the second hostess about seats- and the first told her no- shaking her head aggressively. The second hostess said sorry. Reservation only. I’m pretty certain they didn’t like our looks as I went online and there were tons of reservations available for the bar. Glad I didn’t waste my money.

Our experience at Hege’s made our trip! Michaela at the bar was excellent, she made us feel like family and it was so fun to see her relationship with the locals! Tj recommended amazing wine his knowledge was 10/10. The food was top notch and everyone there made it the perfect evening.
