Restaurant bewertenIt's about a year since I was at lunch in the halkin. ametsa with Arzak instruction already has a Michelin star and is the londonist debuter of one of the most famous restaurants in the basken region of Spain – three-Michelin-starred arzak. and, as I discovered on a recent trip to san sebastian, arzak itself is considered greener by new basque cuisine. so the idea of a Basque afternoon tea, with perhaps more concrete on hearty than sweet tasty, was fascinating.
Spanish afternoon tea with unlimited sangrias, who is there? eat: good quality with all small Spanish tasty and impressive desserts selection. but there is not enough of it, they will want more and hungry! that is unusual for afternoons as they do not seem to offer refills like other afternoons sangrias: in the did free flowing, but service is somewhat slow and are not the best sangrias I live in my drunk, low on the alcohol side service and atmos: not glamorous like the hotel itself, inside is very 3 stars vacation inn feel but not busy to spend so much relaxing. will I have gone? yes, if I don't have to pay...read more
I regularly book afternoon tea and this was the worst I’ve ever had, from the terrible food, to the awful ambience. Tea is served in the bar area with adjoins reception and is enroute to the bathroom. The whole time we had people walking backwards and forwards past our table to the bathroom and a stream of loud conversations from guests checking in, or sitting in the bar next to us, waiting for their room to be available. The cost of the tea with a glass of cava was £50. The food was appalling. Six tasteless canapés and a shot of lukewarm sweet corn soup. This was followed by six mini deserts, again tasteless, with a strong resemblance in appearance to the Iceland mini deserts you see on Christmas adverts, which we left most of and left us starving. I’m sure Spain would be shocked at how poorly this hotel has managed to cook their cuisine. The only good quality parts were the cava and Jing (excellent brand) tea. The staff were polite and courteous, but this is the lobby bar and so they do not have time to pour you tea etc. Upon complaining I was given a glass of cava. If you want to book afternoon tea in this area, book The Goring which is excellent.
