Restaurant bewertenTempura is available only in the first half of Edo period. Enjoy the seasonal tempura of matsutake. Same tea is also sad.
We visited Japan with my wife’s classmate and her classmate’s family member. We all enjoyed the food and service provided there . But one thing I want to mention, it is difficult for us as a tourist, even with the assistance of google map, to locate the restaurant. This is because no “English indication of shop name of the restaurant”. Therefore, we have, in fact, passed through the restaurant twice before we go into it.
My friend recommended this place to me. I booked the place for 6:30pm but had to change to 7pm (I asked my airbnb host to call for me as I don't speak Japanese). He was informed that I had to be on time for 7pm as it's a Friday and it would be packed. I arrived at 6:50pm and was told to sit in the room (there are about 8 counter seats and a small rooms with 2 tables). There were only 2 people at the counter and I asked whether we would sit at the counter (as the table in the small is not very comfortable as we could only kneel) and was told that the restaurant was fully booked. The food was so so (my friend had uni when he went last time and we didn't have it). When we left the restaurant at 8:30pm, the same two guys were still sitting at the counter while the other seats were all empty. This makes me think: 1) how can a restaurant be empty on a Friday evening (peak time)?, 2) why couldn't they change our seat to the counter? For tempura and sushi, sitting at the counter is a totally different experience as sitting in a room. Is this a suitable way to treat a customer? I would not recommend to go to this restaurant.
I have a family meal several times. A long-established store of Kasuga Edomae Tempura. It was always busy.
