Restaurant bewertenGreat place, excellent service and food quality. We will be back. Mille grazie :
Very nice setting outside in the terrace. Lovely local cuisine and friendly warm hosts.
Nothing to complain about the quality of the food: excellent salmi di cervo, taroz and cheese platter. Perhaps due to the overcrowding the staff were not always polite. The value for money is good As mentioned in the title, always in chiavenna I had the opportunity to dine in places closer to the traditional crotto, but I express a personal opinion as by choice it is called a restaurant (with all the advantages that this type brings with it)
Perfect Experience. A bit off the main roads, I appreciate that. Delicious food, fair prices. Authentic local cuisine. Friendly staff. Just little English skills. Highly Recommend!
Where do I start?! Firstly, avoid this place like the plague unless you want to be served by an obnoxious smart a*se with stale fishy breath. Below is an honest review of our meal: Location and ambience: good location near city centre up quite a few steps. Really nice, romantic setting BUT the table next to the crotto was freezing Food: starters and 1 main course the trout were tasty, however ... Service: ordered ribs were a cold b were LITERALLY skin and bones no meat whatsoever politely told waiter/manager/owner they were inedible I mean, there were bones floating in the sauce! and would like to change manager tried to pass this meatless **** off as a 'local speciality ' and was particularly rude and unhelpful changed dish nevertheless sausages were nice bill came, had charged us for 1st uneaten dish partner explained to manager the problem manager started to condescend him about you don 't know this dish , you have to pay even if you didn 't eat it , served this before with no complaints , if I went to England and the dish wasn 't good, I 'd still expect to pay I just got up and said I 'm the one paying for this meal and i 'm not paying for that dish and gave him the rest of the money started to walk out, manager GRABBED my partner and said he 's calling the police !!!!! we weren 't in the wrong and actually thought the way he was behaving was criminal so we said ok and would wait 20 minutes outside in the freezing February cold, still no police i went in and asked manager how long they 'd be, response 'b 'oh ' a rude Italian way of saying 'dunno ' said we 're going back to our hotel so the police can come to see us there if they wish manager asked me to write my name down he picked it up and RIPPED IT UP IN MY FACE ! bear in mind I 'm a young woman and my partner is waiting outside and started pointing his finger in my face, getting right in my face and breathing his horrible breath on me, getting angry in Italian unlike me ! I kept my calm and, loudly so the other customers could hear, said get your finger out of my face, stop trying to intimidate me you need to accept you 're in the wrong, the rest of the food was nice and so we 're only paying for that. Send the police to the hotel but we 're going! Then we left. Of course the police never came. We 've since spoken to friends who are Italian police/lawyers/restaurant owners and they 've informed us that this man had no right to try and make us pay as we had already said it was in edible and hadn 't eaten it. They also speculated that this guy was just trying to pull a fast one on us because we 're not Italian and thus gave us the worst piece of meat and expected us to pay because we 're foreigners. We still can 't believe he was so petty as to apparently call the police and then when he wasn 't getting his own way, try to intimidate a younger, smaller woman. What a loser of a man. AVOID as this man does not deserve business if he thinks this is a decent way to treat people, never mind customers. Word of advice when booking in Chiavenna: reserve table days in advance as the other 2 restaurants we tried to book on recommendations were actually fully booked so we ended up at this place. Can now see why it was half empty.
