Restaurant bewertenI went to this restaurant for lunch today. It's located next to Sheets off of Hull St, so it's easy to miss if you're not looking for it. The dining room was small but nicely decorated with pictures of African American musicians. I was a little disappointed that they only had the lunch menu available, as I was looking forward to trying something from the dinner menu. I ordered the Shrimp Po Boy and my friend got the vegetable platter with collard greens, sweet potatoes, and mac and cheese. The food took a little while to come out, but it was fresh and hot. I did notice that my shrimp still had the tails on, which I felt should have been removed for a sandwich. Despite this, the shrimp were seasoned well and the sandwich was good. The sweet potato fries were also tasty. The sides on the vegetable platter were good, except for the sweet potatoes which could have been sweeter. For dessert, we tried the bread pudding, which was warm and came in a large square shape with whipped cream on top. It was missing raisins but still flavorful. I think adding raisins and serving it with vanilla ice cream would elevate it. Overall, the food was good but the prices were a bit high. Hopefully, they will improve as they are a new restaurant.
We have dined at this restaurant six times and they have only been open for a week. Clearly, we have enjoyed our meals. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the food is absolutely delicious! My favorite dishes include catfish, cheese grits, collard greens, pound cake, bread pudding, fried green tomatoes, peach salmon, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, shrimp grits, and sweet potato muffins - all of them are incredibly appetizing. I am confident that all items on the menu will be just as delicious, and we will definitely be returning to dine with this fantastic team of people.
The food at this restaurant is classic soul food with a modern artistic twist. The atmosphere is small and intimate, and the chef is friendly. My only complaint is that the young waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu. He couldn't make any recommendations and couldn't even tell us about the muffins or bread. Hopefully he will try the food himself and become more informed about the restaurant.
This was my first visit. The atmosphere was nice and my bride and I arrived for dinner right before the rush arrived. So, we got a good table! The chef and owner came out to ensure we were having a pleasant dining experience which added to the great time we had.

We had the BLT salad fried green tomatoes to die for! , gee chee paella great curry spice , and shrimp grits huge shrimp cooked perfectly with cheesy grits . We will definitely return.
