Jkq Bbq - Central City

First of all, what a location!! Refreshing to just walk into a restaurant in Blackhawk and get straight to the good stuff the food! And the interior is as historic and pretty as the outside! The food was delicious, so much meat on my brisket sandwich! And the beef? Ahhhhhh, perfectly cooked! I didn't love the sauces, tbh, I'd have liked more heat in the hot one, but they did the job. Doing an even better job is the staff, I was heartily welcomed and after sitting at the bar solo had just the right amount of interaction with the server tending to me. She was pleasant and thoughtful, checking in, made conversation here and there, and then letting me be to work a bit. Food was delivered quickly and with a smile, and my water glass stayed full even as I was especially thirsty that day. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Blackhawk!

Great BBq here get there early before they run out . they could use more help,but nowadays it hard to find you will not be disappointed

Solid BBQ joint. We were welcomed by a large wood smoker in the parking lot. That is when I knew it was going to be good. They slow cook their meats for lengthy periods and then you get to enjoy all of their hard, hot work. The brisket was pretty darn good, with a nice smoked flavor. The sandwich came with chopped pieces. The BBQ sauces left something to be desired. One hot, the other well I am not sure vinegar? Pulled pork was done well. The sides were appropriate. The baked beans had 3 different varieties and were not overly sweet a good thing. Slaw was creamy. Staff was friendly and welcoming. I 'd read about their desserts from other Yelp reviews and sadly disappointed they did not have any. When I asked my waitress, she said that is because I have not made it yet. The point is all the desserts are made in house daily. Nothing fancy inside, just tables and chairs. Food served on colorful paper. Overall, JKQ BBQ was a good choice for eating in Colorado City/Black Hawk.

One waitress wonderful. One waitress had a major anger management problem. Luckily we were with friend's and Could enjoy ourselves. Brisket and pulled pork great. Enjoyed both barbecue sauces. Hummingbird cake delicious.
