Restaurant bewertenTried on two occasions to eat here. The first was at 13:40 when we had just arrived and the shops were shut. Said the kitchen was closed; advertised as closing a 14:00, wouldn't even serve us a drink or an ice cream. On our second attempt the daughter was unwelcoming so we didn't bother.
The food: I had a Diavola Pizza; Tomato, Mozzarella, Spicy salami and a side of Salad. Girlfriend ordered Quattro Formaggi (not for those who don’t like very strong cheese). For dessert, the Canolli’s...these are just amazing and are fir sharing! Very big individual portions and sweet so good for sharing! The Service: Staff are typical Sicilian/Italian! I can’t stress how these people are just typically Italian and not grumpy! It annoys me that you get Brits, Americans or even Aussies saying they are Grumpy. They have limited English and that is all...just because they cannot speak fluent English doesn’t mean that they are grumpy! Give speaking some Italian a go, they will appreciate your effort! Don’t be ignorant!
We stayed in Sant’ Ambrogio for a week and our intentions to support all three restaurants in town. Well as Meatloaf sang, two out of three ain’t bad but the joint is purely a shocker. We arrived at 2000 which wasn’t too late but we were greeted by the mother/owner with an attitude that your a nuisance and cutting into her valuable smoking time. Without so mush as a smile so pointed at a table and promptly disappeared. When she finally came back we asked for fizzy water and got given plain water. When questioned she said she didn’t have any fiz. We ordered a stock standard margarita pizza to share and a insulate mista with a litre bottle of the local red. Whilst waiting you have the daughter sitting near you watching her phone intently and looking like she eats too much pizza, you also have grandma sitting there looking at you like a vulture sitting on a fence and finally the son walking in and out on his phone also. A real family affair. The food came out and the pizza was ok I guess. The wine was pretty good actually but the salad was near the end of its life and obviously not kept in the fridge. If consisted of chopped warm iceberg lettuce and two,yes two quarters of a tomato. **** awful! I will never, repeat ever come to this dive again. It does not deserve to survive. She made you feel totally unwelcome and as a result I oblige and never grace her store again. I suggest you try the other two in town before this dive. Read my reviews on them to find out why
No pizza at midday but nevertheless' veal meat' and fresh fish were delicious. The lady who take care of you is smiling. On top' with the coffee was offered the best orange icecream we never taste before. Great moment.
We stayed in the village of Sant Ambrogio for two weeks and ate here 3 times and had take away pizza once. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is really good quality. We had pizzas, pasta and meats on our different visits. I think one of the best parts about the pizzeria, is that we found ourselves eating with the locals in The piazza, which we really enjoyed . We found the price to be very reasonable too. Would recommend to families, couples and solo travellers alike.
