Restaurant bewertenAte here a few times pre covid and really enjoyed the vegan food, there was only a small list of main options at the time, hope to get back soon.
Sat down immediately at a booth in a cozy little pub. Service was fast and friendly. Menu had a specific vegan section with around 4 main course options. Most dishes could be customised too. I went for the vegan lasagna, with chunky chips and onion rings. Fresh, piping hot, filling and really tasty. Would go back to try other options again.
The have a few vegan options, I got the bean burger and it was yum. Wish I'd had rhe appetite to try the chocolate tart. Has a traditional irish feel, was nice sitting by the open log fire.
I was thrilled to discover Ownies on Happy Cow! After a refreshing dip in the sea at Fisherman's Quay in Carrickfergus, I was looking for a cozy spot for a hot vegan lunch. Initially, I was about to head to a chain restaurant when I found Ownies. They offer a few vegan options, and we both opted for the vegan lasagna, which was delicious and exactly what we needed—served piping hot. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was lovely with booths and warm fires glowing. They even accommodated my request for vegetables instead of chips, serving up boiled carrots and parsnips that felt like comforting home cooking. Although we didn’t get a chance to try dessert this time, I’m sure we’ll return soon!
The staff and patrons were incredibly welcoming! The vegetable soup was excellent—I could have easily gone for another bowl. The chocolate tart with coconut ice cream was one of the best vegan desserts I've ever tasted. They offered oat milk for coffee, but I heard they don't always have it, so I guess I was lucky that day!
