Carretera Restaurant - Cancún

If you get past the restaurants in the main atrium of the airport you will come across this restaurant right before you get to the terminal seating areas. The fact that it had sushi caught our eye, so we stopped there. The restaurant has a few modest seating areas and a bar type seating area you see in front of sushi preparation areas. I am not sure what they were preparing in that area though. We found staff friendly, service good and the seafood food was good and fresh. We weren't in a rush, but the food was prepared reasonable fast. The prices weren't too bad for an airport seafood meal with a drink. There were 3 of us and we paid 1100 MXN plus tip. It was also in an area where you would have been around fewer people compared to the main dining areas in the atrium before getting to this restaurant.

We had an order of shrimp tacos and of meat, and both were good, came with beans and rice, but were nothing extraordinary. And prices were a little higher than we expected, 2 plates and non-alcoholic drinks for $35 USD. But, better than airline food. This restaurant is in one of the two terminals of the international airport, and has an inside restaurant (in a far corner), but also has an outdoor covered patio too. So, we got to enjoy a little of the Cancun weather between our flights. Speed of service was slow even though we told them we had little time to catch our next flight, so don't stop if you are short on time!

Airport meal. Portions large enough to share. Friendly service. Quick to sit but slow to take orders.

The Chicken and Steak Fijitas (Mixta Atkins) was the best meal I ate in Mexico. The staff was friendly and kind. The food was served hot and as ordered.

Food and service were great. Cisneros was our waiter, he had us laughing having a good time. Two people got the Cajun Chicken Sandwich which was good, fries were good, Turkey sandwich was good, beer was good. Definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner while you are waiting for your flight in Cancun.
