Restaurant bewertenWhile in Cairns, stopped here for dinner. Ordered the chicken parmesan and was unimpressed. The breading kind of fell of the chicken. There was not enough sauce, cheese, and ham, so it just tasted very bland. The portion was huge though. It was served with fries and salad. After the meal, I just felt very heavy. Should have ordered the fish. It becomes a bar later in the night with free pizza which was pretty cool!
We went out for a friends birthday the other day. Haven't had dinner at the wool shed because we ate before. But we were out for drinks and party and I have to say the wool shed is one of the coolest places to be. The DJ upstaiplays great music all night long a amazing mix of indie pop charts hip hop and electro. Great Job dude. The only reason why I just gave 4* is because of the drink prices. I'm sorry but 14$ for a Jug of the most disgusting beer in the world is to much. There are a lot of places where you can get them jugs for 8$. Doesn't make the beer taste better but makes the wallet feel better not to spend that much on gross liquids. All in all. 1 nice place to be.
This is one of the only two places to be at night in Cairns. $3.50 XXXX and from 9-10 $3 for the larger drink. This place is so much fun at night, dancing on the tables, music, awesome. It's free before 12, make sure to get your hand stamped so you can go in and out. Went on Mexican night and got free hats, so much fun!
This pub is located near the Esplanade of Cairns and offers great food. The first time ordered a burger which was very tasty and the beer buttered fries were awesome. Outside they have about 8 tables and it was loud due to drunken guys at the other table so nothing to blame on the pub. At weekends the pub offers a disco on the roof which a happy hour all night long. So every drink is only 5 which is a good one. One con would be that the cheap drinks cause drunken folks and the behavior on the roof is not easy to handle.
The Wool Shed is geared towards backpackers. The food is cheap er), the beer is cold, and there 's a hostel right across the street. If you don 't mind that, the food is actually not bad. The food and bar tab are separate. You order your food at the counter and when your buzzer lights up, you go and pick it up. Then, head over to the bar and get yourself a beer. I saw a sign for happy hour specials but we had just missed it. Since I had yet to try a burger in Australia, that 's what I went with. I ordered the classic $13), which comes with fries. The menu describes it as, 100% Wagyu beef burger topped with aioli. To be honest, I can 't really taste the difference between Wagyu and regular old ground chuck. I don 't know if something was up with my taste buds but halfway through the burger, it actually kind of started tasting like lamb. It wasn 't bad but it definitely wasn 't the best burger out there, nor was I expecting it to me. It satisfied my burger craving so I can 't complain about that! I 'm not sure how packed it gets later on at night, since I was only there for dinner but it seems like a cool place for a few drinks. Plus, it 's not like you really have many options for that in Cairns.
