Restaurant bewertenI was hoping to find a local, non-chain Italian sub, but it ended up being a general disappointment. I only tried Tony's special Italian sub, so I can’t comment on the other sandwiches. Unfortunately, the bread was below par—it didn’t taste freshly baked, and they didn't have cherry pepper hoagies, which are a staple of East Coast Italian subs and can be found in many other places. The meat was decent, but nothing out of the ordinary, and there was way too much oil used. My search for a great Italian sub continues.
It brought back fond memories of my childhood—days when my sister and I would prepare this meal during the summer while our mothers worked. We would go to the nearby butcher shop on Olympic Boulevard to get both meat and cheese sliced to order. Finding quality bologna elsewhere was a challenge, but then I remembered mortadella, an Italian variation that includes pistachios and peppercorns. The Boar's Head version is premium quality and thoughtfully seasoned. Additionally, Tony's is renowned for its excellent deli meats and cheeses and offers a fantastic Boar's Head mortadella and American cheese. While in Burbank, I decided to stop by Tony's, known for its Italian subs, and picked up a pound of mortadella and a pound of American cheese. The service was friendly and personal, although the professionalism was still developing, as there were some young, eager staff members behind the counter. I assembled my sandwich with mortadella, American cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and a handful of crushed tortilla chips. I cut it diagonally, just like our moms did for our lunches, making it feel special, akin to a fine French feast with prosciutto and French butter. Sometimes, especially nowadays, I find myself craving those simple pleasures that remind me of a time when everything felt beautiful and positive—when my biggest worry was how many days of summer were left before school started again. Cheers!
I often pass by, but I've never visited when they're open. Just a few weeks ago, I was in Burbank and stopped at Tony's before my appointment—it's my birthday! We ordered a chicken sandwich and a meatball sandwich. The bread was fantastic, and the meat portions were just what I hoped for. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, much more so than in most places. The prices were also very reasonable.
This is by far the best sandwich spot. My favorite item on the menu is the Italian cold cut. Everything on the menu is fresh. The service they provide is excellent...I usually come here for lunch and always leave very satisfied. I have recommended my friends and family and they all love it. Must try! You won't be disappointed
Pretty decent sandwich, could be better..They should toast a hot pastrami melt, currently they dont.use different bread options .Also, family owned should have better service.combos should offer chips
