Restaurant bewertenBeen here a few times, location okay, as between Glasgow and Edinburgh but you need transport. Rooms in original House very elegant, rooms in extension are lovely too. Food is excellent. Unfortunately I was there for a Funeral tea. The food, quantity, service and room were suitable for the occasion. But £3.25 for a 330ml can of Coke!! Rooms: 5
This hotel is spread across multiple buildings and has been meticulously designed with attention to detail. There is ample free parking available. The rooms are spacious and have recently been painted. The bathrooms are in good condition but may need to be renovated in the future. While there may not be much around the hotel, it is likely the best option in Livingston. Room: 4, Service: 5, Location: 4.
This was the second time that we had stayed here. We enjoyed our stay on each occasion. Beautiful old buildings, possibly listed buildings, have been sympathetically adapted for hospitality, and it's wonderful that the houses have been preserved and maintained to good standard , Garden and surrounding grounds add to the ambiance of hotel . Staff were friendly and helpful as well as providing excellent service . Nothing was too much trouble for them . Rooms: Large bed room and shower suite, very comfortable bed and bedding . Coffee Nespresso machine in room , bottled Highland Spring Water supplied. Food drinks: Great food !
A serviceable hotel popular with weddings but on the cusp of needing sprucing up in the main wedding reception rooms to prevent getting dated with some of it's conference style turn,-of-the-century seating. I'm pretty sure they are paid handsomely for their services so small touches like more than one milk jug to serve an entire large round table of people or providing more than one dish for the butter wedges for the bread roles would make a small but noticeable differences to the overall quality of experience. I do remember dogs having more of an offer of free water and biscuits at reception than the paying guests as well which was slightly grating if you were thirsty on arrival. It's an expensive place for guests thinking of booking rooms for weddings at the venue and this becomes prohibitive if you are a single guest, do worth bearing in mind when thinking about guests at your wedding. The main redeeming feature is well maintained ground providing a wonderful backdrop for wedding photos and indeed weddings if the weather is good. A room sometimes used for drink receptions that is separate to the ballroom dining area is a little grim /dark and utilitarian in feeling so needs to be dressed to cheer it up, though an adjacent courtyard captures the afternoon sun and is an ideal, more atmospheric alternative in good weather. However, this are needs much more outdoor seating if guests use it in good weather rather than lugging the conference chairs in from the inside area. Better staff response I'd needed if the sun comes out! Staff are friendly enough but rarely exceptional. Forearmed is forewarned and these small points could be addressed during the wedding planning to ensure an excellent quality event. Food drinks: Tasty. Well presented. More butter dishes and milk jugs needed at each table please.
This hotel is a very convenient choice for those flying out of Edinburgh Airport in the morning. The hotel offers free parking. Our room, #71, was located in a back building and required navigating a number of steps to access. The room was spacious with a sofa, table, king-sized bed, and desk. The bathroom was modern, but there was some mold in the shower. The room key needed to be placed in a slot for electricity. Despite this, the room was comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed a nice dinner at the hotel restaurant. It is recommended to book ahead as seating may be limited compared to the number of hotel rooms.
