Restaurant bewertenWe arrived here after a Work Management dinner, there was a group of 15 of us they accommodated with no dramas.. this is a great venue with different areas to sit. They only problem was the putting on a bar tab as the Barmen had no idea how to do it & had to wait a bit of time for the duty manager to set one up but other than that we kicked on here for the rest of the night & had a great time.
I have been to the Royal George Hotel several times when I've visited Brisbane but never eaten there. However I couldn't resist the lure of $6 lunch of barramundi, chips and coleslaw. My husband ordered the $6 steak which also came with chips and coleslaw. My meal was very good - two pieces of very tasty battered fish, a delicious coleslaw and lovely chips. The fish was accompanied by lemon and tartare sauce. My husband said the steak was a good flavour but too tough for his taste although cooked perfectly. Next time he will order the fish. The Royal George is a great spot for a cheap lunch/dinner and to watch the passersby.
Just when I think Brisbane hospitality is starting to improve, a venue slaps me back to reality.A half hour to kill so I enter the RG, purchase a Queensland mid-strength beer then sit down at a gaming machine to try my luck with a few bucks change. I remember I need to answer a text message so I begin to type a reply.Literally twenty seconds later I was asked by staff if I was 'playing the machine'. I told the staff member that I had been intending to use the device, however I had now changed my mind due to the fact that I no longer felt the RG's warm welcome. The Pullos Hotel Group staff member informed me that management requires patrons to play any machine they are sitting at. In a attempt at humour I replied 'at what rate do they require you to play'? I left the hotel and purchased my next beverage at neighboring venue 'Ric's Bar'. I then noticed that Ric's is also owned by Pullos Hotel Group... Doh!!I work at ALH hotels regularly and Woolworths would NEVER dream about treating their patrons with this level of contempt. They realise their patrons are literally entering the establishment and emptying their wallets and bank accounts into their business. Anything to discourage this behaviour would be the worst possible sin to a savvy Hotel owner.I'm extremely surprised and bemused by the behaviour of the Pullos Hotel Group here but at least we're back to the Brisbane hospitality I know very well - service with a snarl!
Quite often go to the Royal George for a weekend breakfast with my wife or by myself. Never had a dud meal there yet. $6 big breaky ( only just gone up from $5 ) 2 eggs 2 sausages tomatoe bacon and toast add $5 for a consistantly good coffee and I reakon it's pretty good value and the tomatoe sauce is free. If you get there early enough you can usually watch a crack head getting arrested or a tranny putting on a show - best of all the entertainments free.
Visited here with a few friends for a few hours on a Saturday arvo, the food was good and the staff friendl, they had someone on a guitar who sang quite well too the only downside was the price of the drinks! they charge nightclub prices in the afternoon!
