Restaurant bewertenThis may be the lowest rating I've ever given a restaurant/cafe. My experience at Melange Cafe was quite poor. We dined here due to the convenience of the location, situated within the Roma Street Parklands, but the food and coffee options were overpriced and average at best. The real low point - we observed the manager yelling at patrons. He represents the epitome of terrible customer service. I attempted to give him some feedback, but was summarily dismissed. The Meatballs Family will most definitely not return to Melange Cafe.
I had lunch on the weekend at melange and had the smoked salmon hash cake and must say it was the best I have had in a long while - well worth a visit
TERRIBLE!! AVOID, avoid. Food was the worst I've ever eaten. Roast vege salad was microwaved dried out undercooked tasteless. Way overpriced, coffee $5 for small - too expensive. Service - appalling. Both staff members complete lack of interest. Both agreed the food is poor! Told me "50/50 - half people like it and half people complain, but lately they have had a lot of complaints!!!" Yet - refused a refund, not authorised to. I've not ever felt so passionate about how terrible a restaurant is - until now.
The only thing good about this cafe is the location. All 3 meals were awful, bland, looked stale and like yesterday's food and tasted even worse. I had to actually send one back it was so bad and I have never done that, ever! The meal didn't even resemble what was listed in the menu. I did so very apologetically and ever so nicely and gently asked if I could have a bowl of fries instead and was met with complete hostility by the manager who instructed the wait staff to tell me that I would need to pay for the fries if I wanted them. Shocking! The decor is uninspiring and feels like a cheap takeaway store rather than what should be a beautiful restaurant and escape from the outside world surrounded by gardens. I couldn't have been more disappointed. My first bad restaurant experience in Brisbane. Do yourself a favor and don't even bother or better yet, bring a picnic if u plan to go to Roma St Parklands.
I go to this place out of convenience with my children and regret it every time. The coffee is expensive and the cakes are stale. I have tried food here before and a couple of years ago did enjoy some breakfasts. However, that was more than 5 years ago. Since then it is pot luck as to whether your food is prepared well and if it is even warm when it is served. The manager often shouts at customers and on one occasion was loudly discussing her sex life in full detail. I recommend you take your coffee, pay in cash and enjoy it in the park.
