Restaurant bewertenWe paid almost £16 for 2 cups of tea and two Yorkshire puddings! That seems incredibly steep. While we understand that prices have gone up, we likely won't be returning anytime soon.
Nice place. Open kitchen. Food good. Toilets clean. I would go again. One sandwich 2 coffees £15.10. Latte £3.60 bit expensive I thought. Americano £3. also a bit dear in my opinion. Staff friendly and polite.
What has happened to this cafe? It has been a few months since our last visit, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch as we have many times before. Upon returning today, we were disappointed to find that the cafe is now only open on weekends and the only food option available was listed on a blackboard. The choices were limited to soup, Quiche, a sausage roll, or a spiced chicken and bacon pasty. Three members of our group opted for the pasty, which turned out to be quite disappointing. The pastry was thick and dry, with very little filling inside. The filling itself was dry and lacked any hint of spice. When we politely brought this issue up to a staff member, they simply apologized. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this cafe in the beautiful Salts Mill. It is such a shame.
Having had coffee in the downstairs cafe at Salts Mill we hadn’t fancied any of their offerings for lunch today so tried out the Cafe in the Opera on the top floor. Beautiful spot with tasteful furniture, good views, attentive staff and a good selection of lunch choices. Food and drink arrived promptly and was really good. We shall be back!
We waited patiently for someone to seat us as requested, and when we asked for a table by the window, we were informed that it had not yet been cleaned. Despite this small inconvenience, things began to improve afterwards. The coffee was decent although not very large, and the cheese on toast was tasty, especially when paired with tangy apple chutney and a side salad. It was impressive that when we mentioned we would be sharing the cheese on toast, it arrived sliced in half on separate plates. This attention to detail was a nice touch.
