Eugene's Hot Chicken - Birmingham

I ordered the 1/4 dark meal with mild spice level, and it was absolutely delicious! The mild heat was just right for me, with the perfect balance of spices and a hint of sweetness. My only criticism was the coleslaw, which seemed a bit wilted and brown.

This has that hole in the wall feel some of you are seeking. Smaller venue. In and outdoor seating. There are tasty restaurants near this one, but this one was our favorite. If you want to convince your kids, how can you go wrong with chicken and waffles?! Yum sums it up.

Food was excellent. The only reason I?m not giving this place 5 stars is the cleanliness of the place. No tables were wiped down the whole time we were there except ours when we asked. You can ice skate on the floors (concrete) due to the grease on them. I won?t even mention how bad the bathrooms looked.

Eugene's Hot Chicken is a perfect restaurant. The chicken is delicious. The line could be long, but it's worth waiting. We also enjoyed the environment. The salad was fresh and delicious. The fried chicken was perfectly cooked. I recommend you try them at any time you want a delicious roasted chicken.

I agree with the others that the cleanliness is questionable. Food was average. The chicken sandwich was not memorable as it was basically chicken tenders and coleslaw between buns. I had better chicken sandwiches in Birmingham.
