Avec Moi - Bilbao

Having wandered the streets adjacent to the Nervion in the centre of Bilbao we came across this little place close to the White Bridge. The waiter was extremely friendly and despite his lack of English and my lack of Spanish (or Basque) he was able to guide us through the menu which to our delight offered more than just Pintxos! Unfortunately the food did not match his enthusiasm and we were left with two large salads which both consisted of 90% lettuce and very little else. Whilst the total cuenta (including some average patatas bravas) only came to €20, when compared to some fantastic food at a lower price we experienced around the city we were left feeling very disappointed.

This is the first time ever I write a review on tripadvisor. We are visiting Bilbao and decided to grab a late breakfast at Avec Moi, but the woman on the other side of the bar was so incredibly rude, shouting and making faces while serving customers, that we had to leave before ordering anything. There was another customer, a lady who wasn 't spanish and asked the bartender if she spoke english, as she wanted to find out which food they offer, and there was no menu card around. The bartender rudely answered that she is in Spain and she doesn 't have to speak any english and in spanish said what was the day lunch consisting of. It was obvious that the customer didn 't understand so we helped her to translate the names of the dishes. Then it was our turn to order and we politely asked in spanish what was that pie exposed at the bar, and she answered that it was a pastel basco , when we asked how is it made, she said it is baked rudely and making faces. Then we rephrased the question, asking if she can tell us what it is made of, she said I don 'tow, I didn 't cook it , we made a last try asking what is inside of this pie, and very rudely she said I am explaining you once again,it is a pastel basco , making it all sound like we are bothering her with our stupid questions. We decided to leave immediately and really do NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Strategically located beside the Zubizuri bridge, this place might be good for a quick snack or a coffee. Ambience is nice, with a lot of light pouring through the glass walls. Personnel is very friendly.

We were very pleasantly surprised that this restaurant cafe was opened after midnight and service was really great and we had a grill meat (speciality off the menu). Would defiantly recommend it.
