Restaurant bewertenLuke Gray is the grand food-bar here at the #wholesomebean which has been serving strong coffee to the #bendigo CBD well before it was fashionable. Luke is known for serving his wonderful curries over lunch on weekdays but also for his lack of a beard and or riding a fixie though working as a barista. On this day the curry was omitted to be replaced with an almond croissant, the only suggestion would be include some double whipped cream or vanilla bean ice cream when plating to offset the subtle dryness in part of the pastry. As an underground foodie one item that the wholesome bean is no longer making is their caramel popcorn slice! This slice needs to make a come back like #jordan on court wearing the #45. Like MJ please don't make it half as good as it was before thanks Luke? #foodmypants #food #foodie #instafood #foodporn
Cute little cafe amongst Bendigo's main shopping mall. I'd heard good things about Wholesome Bean in a coffee book I got as a gift, so when I had to do some shopping in Bendigo I just had to give this cafe a look. <br/ <br/ Although by the time I got there it was heading towards closing time and food was clearly out of the question, the staff were more than happy to stay open so I could have a couple of drinks. <br/ <br/ Firstly, the flat white. It tasted a little burnt, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Either way it was still quite tolerable and better than much of the coffee I've had in the Goldfields region. The short macchiato I chased it down with was a COMPLETE TURNAROUND. Fruity, tangy, I could tell that the beans shone through once the milk was removed (either that or the first coffee was a once off). I'd love to know where they source their coffee from! <br/ <br/ I'd love to come back, as the menu options looked lovely. Definitely swing by if you want some decent coffee in Bendigo.
The $10 lunch deal left me satisfied with a flavoursome, well portioned, very tasty curry and delicious chai latte. A great combo that will be revisited.
I went here with a friend from the city. We had the $10 lunch deal and the curry was amazing. It had that home cooked flavour about it and tasted fresh! My city friend was impressed! It was so cosy and the atmosphere is just we needed on a cold winters day.
Best coffee in bendigo. Passionate owner who offers great service
