Restaurant bewertenWhat a beautiful place with an updated look, great staff and a great view!! We were hosting a special event this weekend and it was nothing less fabulous! Nickki was so great to help us set up our event, and Bradley was a great server that didn't miss a beat. I can't wait to visit again! Thank you for a fantastic experience!
We come here several times a year for the serenity and hiking options. There are four great hikes within a stroll from the lodge. Sharp Top Mountain is a challenging ascent to one of the best panoramic views in the park. Harkening Hill and Johnson Farm Loop add up to a 4.16 mile hike with a 1930s vintage restored Appalachian Farm, which is worked by folks dressed in period in the Summer. Flat Top Mountain is four mile hike, or much more depending on how you climb and return to the tallest peak although overlooks are sparse. And The Cascades is a great shorter hike (1.5 miles or more) which rewards with several waterfalls. The rooms are nice with a spectacular view of Sharp Top Mountain from the balcony across a lake. The Lodge has a great menu offering options for any diet and the service is good. A lounge adjoins the restaurant, which has a modest bar, a huge fireplace and the same view across the lake at Sharp Top. It's always a pleasant stay here. The people who work and visit are always in good spirits.
We recently got married in October and couldn’t have asked for better service and hospitality! The staff was excellent and food delicious! Views of Sharp Top and surrounding mountains were beyond spectacular and made a beautiful backdrop for our fall wedding. Our guests were able to stay at the lodge and enjoyed the lake and hiking trails during the weekend. The Calvin Rice event space was the perfect size for our guests and was just as beautiful as the outdoors. Great place for an intimate wedding ceremony and reception!
My husband, I and our two boys stayed the night for the Perseid meteor shower. Although it became overcast in the peak hours, our stay was delightful. It was what I consider glamping. No frills, nice comfy room and patio but the view and the property are so beautiful. I actually didn't think there would be a tv, but there was-with limited channels-but again-unless you can't sleep you really don't need it. The best part for me was no cell service. I could actually be at peace and only pick my phone up to take pictures of my family. There was a small wedding taking place when we arrived which was very sweet. We had dinner in the lodge which was awesome. Amy, our server was amazing and super friendly. My husband and I had the NY Strip and the kids had cheeseburgers. Although we asked for medium and more of a medium well came out, instead of complaining, we tried it and both of us cleaned our plates. There was a duo band called Root 2 Band that was playing and singing Irish music which for us was such a wonderful treat. They sang songs we knew and we really enjoyed it. The dessert was amazing-a baked peach over vanilla ice cream topped with a raspberry coulis and roasted sliced almonds. Absolutely to die for! We shared one and couldn't help but order a second....it WAS that good. Breakfast in the morning was a buffet with drink included. It was good. I did notice however a woman picking out ALL of the strawberries for herself from the bowl of fruit which was pretty rude, but, being the kind of person she was she herself seemed ignorant to the fact that she was not being courteous to others. Either that or she enjoyed being a glutton. I didn't want any of the strawberries, but I did over hear a couple of tables voicing their opinions about how she did what she did and they seemed to be blaming those who were working at the time to police the situation at the buffet better. Any how, we LOVED our stay and we will all be back. Looking forward till then.
We had a delicious lunch see pictures) and a spectacular view! The meal was a bit pricey but it's reasonable to pay for the atmosphere and view see picture).
